It's going to be a long long disappointing season I feel. NO goals after half time. Not good enough. After half time, looked too slow, too small & cooked! At least Bri Davey had a great return game.
I'm predicting bottom six finish, as we have a harder draw than previous seasons. Sorry to doom & gloom, but we've been falling for a while & Davey can't be everywhere. Our best player by a mile, followed by Allen!

for the people that didnt watch the game, here is a snapshot of what collingwood did

*Grabs mark 40 out..
*Goes for goal...
*lands 15 meters short

Know your limitations girls, you cant kick that far... its fine.. just hit up a target!

Thankfully, this has NO relevance to what will happen next Thursday night, totally different match, with a totally reversed result.

To me the pies aflw are still in warm up mode.

I felt that last night was in kind of a practice match for them.

Not much to read into it.

^ can't afford warm up matches 90. That's what the pre season practice matches are for! If next week is also a "warm up" game, the season will be in jeopardy!
They don't look match fit to me at all. Most of the team slowed to a walk after half time. And if they can't run out the first match of the season, how will they look by round 10?
Ruby will make a bit of difference, but I feel we are still too small against the better AFLW teams. Hence why we have kept Fredericks, when she clearly is no longer AFLW standard!

Unitl Fredrick leaves the pies i cannot see us improving much this year in the aflw.

I would say 5th or 6th at best.

It will take a while for Davey and Bonicci to find their fet.

But its only 10 rounds so if you dont chalk up a win sooner then later your aflw season is done and dusted.

Its good that we have gone to youth tho.

Still a work in progress and i do feel the Dees are the bench mark.

An open aflw this time around any team can win it.

Even i think carlton have a good team. They looked the goods yesterday at ikon.

Pies are in a reset mode.

Looking at more like afl 11 when things crank up a bit.

Still 2 aflws away from been really good.

Been on the slide since 2020.

Time to re build up again.

Like them to finally win one at Vic park v freo next week end its time they won.

^ wrong again 90. 2020-2021 were our best years in the competition. We were 4 points away from a grand final in 2021. Then Sharni Norder retired, we recruited Fredericks & first game in 2022 we lost Davey for 2 seasons. Our fixture for both seasons in 2022 flattered our ladder position and we struggled to beat any of the good teams towards the end of both seasons. And of course before this current season we lost 2 marquee players in Molloy & Lambert, and replaced them with recycled AFLW players who haven't impressed in previous teams. We definitely won't be making finals this year, looking at our draw. Hoping I'm wrong of course.
