Brilliant third quarter, but that was a terrible way to lose in the end.

Hopefully some valuable lessons to take away from this for the playing group and coaching panel.

Young side, this is always a risk. Move on to next week. Should be a few to come in from the VFL

Collingwood no key forwards

Geelong 9 goals for their key forwards

Man it would have been nice to recruit Cameron…

Centre bounces needs to be addressed this week, lost count how many times it went straight to Geelong, Grundy couldn’t get near it and it wasn’t called back. The big talk about being tougher on holding the ball didn’t seem to apply to Geelong either

Been saying it for years. We need a seasoned high percentage marking goal kicker and we ain't got one, just small forwards who do their stuff but it's not going to ever win a flag.

Entertaining game nonetheless and a fantastic effort by the young Pies. Wasted shots at goal in the first quarter ultimately cost us the game.

I think the 3rd quarter shows what we are capable of. The last quater shows what happens if the intensity slips even a few percent. I think a few of the kids ran out of legs.

Showed us how you capitalise under pressure. Lost in the first half. Should have been 60 up at 3/4 time.
Senior players went missing in the end.

Terrible shame in the end.As I said in the game day thread we completely ran out of gas in the last quarter just as we did last week against Adelaide. Is fitness a problem at the club? You could tell that our players were completely knackered and could hardly run, even early in the last quarter.

Could’ve been up by more had Grundy kicked that goal, but no kicks it low straight into the arms of the GEEL defender.
They go straight up & go bang, bang…

Look I'm gutted we lost.
Umpiring has been great but quality fell apart in that game and definitely favoured cats but...
we only have ourselves to blame, poor kicking and inconsistent form across the game. We BADLY need a key tall and have for years

WE ARE COMING! :)

As for Duckwood I just want to punch (rather than slap) him!

ditto Jezza
Lots to like in what they dished up but consistently lost the 50 50 ball contests at the crunch.
Cameron the difference.
Kicking points instead of goals in the first q hurt in the end as well.
McInnes looks a player
Lots to like though and build on from here

Two weeks in a row we’ve run out of legs. But Jesus, a 90-53 point lead on the stroke of 3/4 time? You’d think we could muster some kind of strategy to kick 1-2 goals and hold on. Demoralising.

Not a disaster. Positives to take from this.

Yes it is awful to lose after being 6 goals up. But let’s remember we were 16th last year.

Before the game most Pies supporters would have taken a loss by a couple of goals.

Shows the importance of key forwards. Number 1 priority: get a key forward.

What does it take it give away a 50 for arguing with the umpire? Not much so far, but seems to be a hell of a lot if you're Geelong. At least 2 if not more players argued for a long time with the umpire when Elliot was given his mark and at least one other player swore at the umpire for another infringement - shouldn't they be 50's? Surely the umpires don't mind giving frees in front of goal - they gave enough to Geelong. What a crock of shit. If it was 50 50 in the second half we would've won. The boys did enough to win the game fairly. Watch the in the backs and incorrect disposal and ask yourself if Geelong didn't do it just as much. If you watch the incident's in congestion you'll see a great line of sight for the umpire to pay a few frees to the pies but they wait until Geelong get a 50/50 and give it to them, or just pluck one out of fresh air ie. the last one. If the umpires can't control their emotions they need more training, or someone to tell them in the middle of the match that they're making too many errors to one side, getting to biased, That's the most generous I can be to them - the other option is they wanted to cheat. Which is it umpires - I'd like to know so YOU can improve...
