Good Lord. How many great players are still waiting for a statue? This girl has played a few games of women's footy and she gets one in Federation Square. The world has gone completely MAD.Bucks5 wrote:Well she now has her own statue:

P.S. The statue looks nothing like Tayla (who happens to be the best looking AFLW player by the length of the Flemington straight). But you don't want to make her look too attractive do you?

It's in fed square for the month of September.
The final location is yet to be determined, but it's expected to be around Princes Park somewhere.
I must say, I find it a bit strange that she's been given a statue when many AFL/sporting greats have not.
Stand up to online bullying sure, but to get an actual statue... Gee wizz.

I have no problem with her getting a statue or for women's football to be promoted (the statue is far more about AFLW than it is about her, and that's fine), but the thing that's a bit off for me about this is that it's so obviously a direct clap-back to the social media trolling caused by the photo and the brouhaha over that. People can't get enough of symbolic politics... in that sense, it's kind of fitting that it'll be right across from the female pedestrian traffic lights at Flinders Street station.

Taylah personally couldn't give a shit and thinks it's ridiculous, I have that on good authority. She can't say that in public though.
Yeah she copped awful abuse. But the media and AFL (and Andrews Govt) really pushed that for their own profit and turned a molehill into a mountain for their own agendas. Adam Treloar copped online abuse to the point he was going to quit footy, does he get a statue?
I hate how it's just shoved in our faces. Most of the general footy public didn't troll Harris, it was a bad minority. Yet it's pushed as the majority are doing it, and the AFL and media has an agenda for that.
People, including Adelaide celebrities such as Adam Liaw, are tweeting why doesn't Erin Philips get a statue, she's done more for women's footy.
And holy hell those female walking lights give me the irrits. My female friends and coworkers hate them too. Aren't they stereotyping women as wearing skirts?

^ Totally. Dumb optics and the kind of thing that happens when corporate HR departments try to come up with progressive branding (except this time it was a state government).
Oh, and just in case you were wondering if the discourse could get any dumber:

(Oh, and yes, it was staged, but so was Whitten’s, so that’s hardly a scandal.)

^ It's all symptomatic of the Fall of the Roman Empire Part 2. The West is truly stuffed (political correctness and all that) and when the Muslims finally get their political act together they will rule the world. I'm not joking. Secularism has no future because when you believe we descended from pond slime and that life has no essential meaning you are left with nothing but pure ego and consumerism. This is the perfect recipe for Dictatorships. The strongest will be the society that can rally around a common religious belief. Christianity has no chance of doing that anymore. Islam is a different story. Demographics is on their side as well.
