2018 free agents
Adelaide
Richard Douglas (Age 30)
David Mackay (29)
Andy Otten (28 )
Rory Sloane (27)
Brodie Smith (25)
Sloane the prize catch. Smith would be too if not for his ACL injury, which will see him miss most of 2018.
Brisbane Lions
Rohan Bewick (28 )
Ryan Lester (25)
Not much to see here. Lester expected to stay. I always liked Bewick, but he might not have too much left in the tank.
Carlton
Marc Murphy (30)
Kade Simpson (33)
Simpson will give it away, but I'd take Murphy only to be spiteful to Carlton.
Collingwood
Jarryd Blair (27)
Alex Fasolo (25)
Tyson Goldsack (30)
Ben Reid (28 )
Josh Thomas (26)
Looking forward to the Blair threads. WCE/Freo might be keen on Fas and Swans might try for Reid while their window is open.
Essendon
Tom Bellchambers (28 )
Not much to worry about for the Bombers. I rate Bellchambers, but Essendon will re-sign him soon.
Fremantle
Hayden Ballantyne (30)
Michael Johnson (33)
David Mundy (32)
Aaron Sandilands (35)
Finished, finished, finished, finished.
Geelong
Cameron Guthrie (25)
George Horlin-Smith (25)
Harry Taylor (31)
Maybe the Cats will let Guthrie go so Gaz Jr can get his number 29 back?
Gold Coast
Jarrod Harbrow (29)
Tom Lynch (25)
Tom Nicholls (25)
This'll be the big one followed by the media until he signs. Lynch will either be a Sun or Magpie in 2019.
Hawthorn
Shaun Burgoyne (35)
Taylor Duryea (26)
Paul Puopolo (30)
Ryan Schoenmakers (27)
Brendan Whitecross (27)
Nothing to see here. Wouldn't be surprised if all are gone in 2019. All would be happy with over 100 games and premierships, apart from Whitecross. Burgoyne been an absolute star.
Melbourne
Max Gawn (25)
Neville Jetta (27)
Tom McDonald (25)
Gawn will stay. McDonald could be handy as a 194cm defender.
North Melbourne
Shaun Atley (25)
Scott Thompson (30)
Sam Wright (27)
Moving on.
Port Adelaide
Justin Westhoff (31)
Nothing for PA to worry about.
Richmond
Reece Conca (25)
Ben Griffiths (26)
Shaun Grigg (29)
Dylan Grimes (26)
Bachar Houli (29)
Not much to see here either. The three lucky enough to play in the flag will be able to stay if they wish. The other 2 might get delisted.
St Kilda
Sam Gilbert (31)
Is he still playing?
Sydney
Heath Grundy (31)
Jarrad McVeigh (32)
Nick Smith (29)
First 2 in their last year. Smith been a good player, will stay with them.
West Coast
Andrew Gaff (25)
Shannon Hurn (30)
Mark LeCras (31)
Scott Lycett (25)
Eric Mackenzie (29)
Jeremy McGovern (25)
A bit for WCE to think about. Gaff will attract interest as probably the third best player available. McGovern is also a huge catch, but as a West Australian, will likely stay. Lycett is a decent player when fit.
Western Bulldogs
Luke Dahlhaus (25)
Tom Liberatore (25)
Dale Morris (34)
Jordan Roughead (27)
Mitch Wallis (25)
Dahlhaus would be nice. Liber out of favour at the club, but I think he and Wallis stay.

So yeah, I think the clear targets (in order) are;
1. Lynch.
2. Sloane.
3. McDonald. (Unlikely)
4. McGovern. (Unlikely)
5. Re-sign Reid.
6. Gaff.
7. Re-sign Fasolo.
8. Dahlhaus. (Unlikely)
9. Liberatore (Unlikely)
After that you have; Wallis, Bellchambers, Murphy, Lycett and of course re-signing Thomas & Goldsack if deserved.

He'd fit in at Collingwood. Remember that kick in straight to Mason Cox in the final round of the season?Presti35 wrote:I wonder when McDonald is expected to sign. Playing with his brother and other family connections to the club would make it near impossible to snare him.
But imagine him in our backline.

He swears under oath that he knew Mase would miss and wanted to screw with his mind.Jezza wrote:He'd fit in at Collingwood. Remember that kick in straight to Mason Cox in the final round of the season?Presti35 wrote:I wonder when McDonald is expected to sign....

Kangaroos trying to attract a big name.
Failed to do so in 2017. Will do so again in 2018.

Tom Lynch will be either a Magpie or a Sun this time next year.
Jeremy McGovern, a West Australian, isn't going to leave Perth.
Rory Sloane wont be leaving a flag contender for a bottom 4 team. If he returns to Victoria, it's almost certain to be with the Saints.
Andrew Gaff is their only hope I reckon. Or possibly a disgruntled Liberatore.

Interesting article.
A few players in there that would fit in nicely at Pie Land.
