The Ablett trade

He's still an elite mid. If the Suns roll over and give him to Geelong for peanuts I'll spew. They are obviously in the Premiership window and he could be the missing piece of the puzzle. The Suns need to play very hardball. They need to demand at least a good young player and a draft pick. I don't want those pricks from Geelong getting him for nothing.

Not convinced personally he'll prove the difference at age 34 and as they'll most likely have to part with a couple of handy players in Motlop and Menzel to achieve it it might amount to a net gain of zilch.
It terms of trade cost the biggest component might be them having to pay a sizeable amount of money to Gold Coast because the Ablett contract was heavily front loaded.
Not sure exactly how that plays out in terms of the rules.

They should ask for a player and second pick this year and the Cats first pick next year. Basis being Geelong won't finish third next year and pick will be worth more. If they got say Menzel I would ask the Cats to pay part of his salary as well. Ablett is just being greedy. make someone pay.

Agree.
Gaz will not make the Cats the premiership team. I dont think they're actually that good anyway.

Remember how stoked we were when he left Geebung at the end of 2010?
Yeah, that worked out well for us the following year...

I just enjoyed how the Essendon Prez came out and said they're not after Rockliff as he is too old, but then said they asked about Ablett.

Reckon James Kelly may have been pissing into his ear?
Stringer and Ablett inside 50; that would be hard to shut down...

Abletts lack of ability to play injured puts sides off.
The well documented shoulder injury was strange

Doubt it will discourage Geebung in the coming weeks...

Well looks like after the AFL orchestrated a high compo pick for motlop it garantees ablett to cats.
And pick 19 goes to Suns too help them out.
The AFLs club is priority one. Geelong are just the lucky recipients.
I don't think most people understand the dirty money going too the afl through the sun's from the gold coast region
