If (and it's a big if) Adelaide and Richmond make it to the Grand Final they will set a few records.
1. Grand Final contested by teams with biggest Grand Final absences ever. Adelaide (19 years) versus Richmond (35 years). No previous Grand Final
has ever been played between two such long term absentees.
2. Zero Grand Final experience. Not since 1898 has a Grand Final been played between teams who combined have no players with any previous Grand Final experience. EVERY Grand Final for 120 years has had at least one player with previous experience. But if Adelaide play Richmond every player will be a GF newbie. Next closests were 1961 when of both teams only Ted Whitten had played in one before & likewise in 1997 with Darren Jarman.

You may have me on that one!! But it's tricky.
North 1978 to 1996 = 18 years
Swans 1945 to 1996 = 51 years
The cumulative total of absentee years is larger in 1996, but North missed by only 18 years then, not the 19 that will happen if Adelaide v Richmond.
Adelaide 1998 to 2017 = 19 years
Richmond 1982 to 2017 = 35 years
Well done mate.

Can't wait till Richmond are up by 5 points. Ball in there defensive 50 with 30 seconds to go in the grand final...Rance tries to kick to Martin...doesn't see Eddie Betts...he intercepts and snaps a goal. Adelaide premiers and everyone in the entire football world says "should of warn your clash strip hahaha
