Jake Stringer is available

Officially up for trade from Dogs.
Personally, I would love to see him in black and white. Elite kick, great pace and a goal kicker. Yep, there are issues - but this is a class act that could add another dimension to a forward line notorious for being one dimensional. And he can be thrown into the middle as a storm trooper if necessary.
Thoughts?

Yes, he would definitely add another dimension to our forward line, I have always liked him. Howevr, he would be very expensive. I don't know much about the tackling pressure he applies, because I think forward pressure is the big area we need to address. Does he have good stats in this area of his game? If not, then he might not be exactly what we need.

GOAL KICKING forwards is an area we need to address.

Doesn't matter how little a forward line tackles so long as it is potent in front of the big sticks.

So either continue the obsession with defensive pressure and remain in the pack or break with the obsession and look for some honest to goodness goal kicking forwards.

I hear what you're saying Max, and respect it. However I have to agree with DD65 and reiterate our abysmal goal kicking record. For mine Stringer adds a lot more than Fasolo ever could.

Stringer for Adams. Straight swap.

Haven't we got a squad full of midfielders and not enough quick forwards?

Agree absolutely.
Moreover, goals are not kicked by any forwards whatsoever if the ball rebounds out of F50 too easily and quickly. Elliott is a goal kicking forward, and Fas as well, but both have been hindered by our lack of ability to keep the ball in our F50. Stringer kicked goals as a byproduct of intense forward pressure of the Bulldogs.

Dunno, I just find it interesting that the dogs have allowed him to consider his options all to easily.
We would really want to do our homework if we are interested.

For the Dogs, perhaps his off field issues have been too distracting and detrimental for the club as a whole. Unfortunately his baggage may go with him wherever he goes. Saying that I'd love him at the Pies.

No way. That's ridiculous IMO. Adams is twice the player JS is and the gap won't be closing anytime soon between them.

Yep and I think that's my whole problem. Even if a player has baggage, a club usually shows that they don't want to depart with them, just to condition potential suitors into paying overs to get him. ( ie Yarran, Bennell )
To me it reads like, the sooner this guy moves on, the better we will be as a club again.
Having said that, I'm open minded. He can play... when he wants to.

Hasn't there been some personal relationship breakup that involves another player? I'm not going to repeat rumours - but that was being kicked around radio last weekend or the weekend before. If it is correct, you'd think that his position is untenable.

In addition, there's always the money question - since it is all Collingwood's anyway, why not just cut out the middle-dog?

Makes far too much sense for the club to even consider going for him.

Bulldogs can pick up Mayne for about $100k. They'd be nuts not too and let us pay the rest.
