Sharrod Wellingham

Missed the Eagles match with GWS (Rd10) after suffering an ankle injury against Essendon the week before.

As we head into round 13, the Eagles have left him out of the squad again, but he is one of the emergencies.

Sharrod turns 29 in a few weeks. He's played 75 games so far in 5 seasons for WCE. (After playing 92 over 5 seasons for Collingwood).

He's kicked only 18 goals since joining West Coast, none so far in 2017 and only one in 2016.

Is unsigned at seasons end. (Eagles have signed Priddis recently, but have decisions on Mitchell, LeCras, Butler, Mackenzie and Petrie to make).

What does the future hold in store for one of our heroes from 2010?

He's been a bit of an enigma, Sharrod. His Gf2 game was great - that crushing of a pack and snapped goal was a real highlight of the game, and even his mark with about ten mi utes to go and race into an open goal for the ultra-sealer were a big part of the drama of the day. I'm really sorry he didn't manage to follow through and become a big part of our subsequent years, and he seems to have just drifted with the WCs.

At 29 and with all the players WCE have to make a call on, I wonder if Wellingham is in their plans for 2018?

With the following outs: Matt Priddis (General Soreness), Josh Hill (Illness), Shannon Hurn (Concussion) & Will Schofield (Hip), Wellingham was brought into the side that defeated the Bulldogs at Etihad.

He had 12 disposals and seemed to have injured his hip. Could be looking at some time out, or a WAFL appearance.

Seems that Sharrod is on his way out at West Coast.

An article on afl.com.au today suggests that he may be a surprise selection for the elimination final against Port.

I always likes Shaz, and I always felt he was a little underrated. But at 29 and a bit of bad luck with injuries, I think the Eagles might let him go after Mitchell, Priddis and others are leaving.

Does anyone think he might get on another AFL list? Who could do with him?

Not suggesting we should bring him home (He's 8 games short of 100 with the club), but does anyone think he offers more than Mayne?

If I was Simpson, i'd get him straight back into the side next week, and stamp the papers of LeFlog and Redden: NEVER TO RETURN.
Both those muppets slaughtered any chances the Eagles had to ice the game during regular time.

Being reported that he has been delisted by the WCE.

29 years old.

92 games for Collingwood.
79 for West Coast.

Can he find a third home?

Now officially delisted by West Coast.

29 years old.

92 games with Collingwood.
79 at West Coast.

171 games all up at AFL level.

I think he can still offer something to the right team. Essendon? Adelaide? Geelong? But would he be willing to leave Perth again?

I could be wrong, but I don't think he will get a third opportunity.
