The Wooden Spoon

Its been a glorious past 3 seasons with St Kilda, Carlton and Essendon receiving the Wooden Spoon.
Who is up for the honour in 2017?
Brisbane would be nice. Maybe Fremantle. The Suns might do it.
Both S.A. clubs are yet to win a spoon, but they'll both be safe for a while you'd think.

Suns no hope. If they get there injured back and good trades for there nearly departed they will improve enormously. Bears would be favourite even with Beamer back, Won't replace Merrett and a few others like Rockliff go and there is no improvement save for pick 2.

True. I'd just like to have the least amount of spoons.
Only the Brisbane Lions (1), Fremantle (1), West Coast Eagles (1), Gold Coast (1), Port Adelaide (0) and Adelaide (0) have less.
GWS and the Brisbane Bears (if that counts) are tied with us on 2.
Lions have come second last a couple of times in a row now, with the WCE a shock spoon in 2010. IIRC, Port came close to getting it in 2011.
Melbourne can consider themselves the luckiest by finishing 2nd last plenty of times recently, with the new clubs coming in. St Kilda is also in this boat, coming 2nd last a few times.
Freo have also been lucky in that they've managed to avoid a couple spoons by coming 2nd last (They did it in 1999 too).
Adelaide haven't come close to getting a spoon yet.
So yeah, Id like to see a few spoons fly to QLD, WA and SA. But I definitely wouldn't say no to another Saints, Blues or Bombers spoon.

At this very early stage, I think it might go to Brisbane with Carlton the second most likely destination.
Some may say Collingwood will get their hands on the spoon, but that'll all change once we get a few wins.

I think Gold Coast has this all sewn up.

GC will improve with the pending coaching change. Rocket will be gone by round 5.

Not if we keep getting results like tonight.

They might Bronze him now; methinks he's safe!

A week's a long time in football peeps - remember that.
The wheel can turn very quickly in this caper.

Perhaps Hawthorn is tanking for the number 1 pick?

Pity they haven't got a 1st round pick then.
Unfortunately the Saints will have it.

They might be aiming for some free agents after they pension off premiership players.

There's no point that Hawthorn tanks. St.Kilda will be the beneficiaries of them bottoming out this year.
I have absolutely no idea who could win the wooden spoon now. The competition is as even as I've ever seen it before.

I still think the Lions are a bottom two side. But yes, now that we've seen a few teams get a win and the Hawks, Swans and Roos winless, it's changed a lot of minds.
I'm enjoying the Vickery memes going round at the moment. Poor guy.

Hehe, me too!
Can't believe they traded Mitchell!
