CONTRACT negotiations between the Brisbane Lions and skipper Tom Rockliff have stalled as the embattled club continues to struggle to retain talent.
Well, he is Victorian. And although he has had some injury concerns lately, he would be magnificent in our midfield.
The question is, why wouldnt he sign a deal to stay up there? Whats holding back the contract?
It's believed the 26-year-old 2014 All-Australian wants a five-year deal worth about $4 million.
So thats why? Is that too much to ask? Are the Lions being stupid or smart to not give him what he wants?
You know what questions are coming next..... Could we? Should we?

A good player in a crap side.
On AFL 360 last night, David King seemed to suggest that the Lions should consider trading him and they could receive a first-round pick in the range of 5-15 at the very least.

Typical SuperCoach stats pig. Gets an absolute arse-ton of the ball, does SFA with it.
No thanks.

Hmmm.
I've heard it before.
Either way if Rockliff or Zorko want out, we'd be silly not to ask the question.
We'll see what happens.

Zorko in a forward pocket would be handy.

^^^ He was fantastic against us (on a day when almost all of his teammates were tragically poor).

I'd say he is going to leave the Lions.

This article suggests that Adelaide could be a destination for him.

Any developments? Would be a good pick up for anyone pushing top 4.

From a good source. Their board dont want him leading the club.
Apparently he isnt well liked and does not treat his team mates with much respect. Also had some run ins with Simon Black and could be part of the reasoning Black has walked away from the club?
Dont know if my source is as good as inx88s re:North. But we'll see what happens.

Thus if he's a pig-headed know-it-all, he'll get on like a house on fire with Buckley then.

Yeah, one day later and its still very negative views/comments coming from my source.
From what I've heard, my view is that Rockliff has become a very frustrated player. He is tired of grooming younger players every single week. And he was over working under glory players like Black, Leppitsch, Voss, etc.
I think he was made captain based solely on being their only good player (Apart from Rich at the time). They had no other candidate. And they still probably struggle to fill this leadership problems.
Perhaps Rich would make a good captain? Or, heavens above, Mitch Robinson?
If we are to trade Witts to Brisbane, we could get Rockliff rather cheaply. But my belief is that if we do enter talks with the Lions (Again!), we'll probably be eyeing off their pick 20 or 28 (Which funnily enough we received from St Kilda (Freeman) and forwarded on to Brisbane (Aish)).
One Lions player I dont mind is Rohan Bewick. I think he has a ripper kick on him.
