Reported now that during a check up the melanoma has reappeared.
The report says he will begin immediate treatment
Sending best wishes to him and his family
Hope he gets well quickly and can be back on the park asap
(Actually make that after we play the Hawks)
Good luck roughy

Jordan Lewis was just on 360. His exact words when asked about roughies diagnosis "it's serious is as serious as it gets"
He had a full body scan and showed multiple spots which need a biopsy immediately to determine course of action
Sounds like this is not the. Set news for the guy
Hope he's ok and the footy world support him and his family as much as possible

That doesn't good for Roughy at all. From what I have seen of him on the Footy show, he seems to be quite a good and funny bloke who doesn't deserve such a crap ailment.

I wish Roughy and his family strength and resilience at this time.

I hope and wish the cancer is very early stages in its spread, and can be halted and maintained with radiation and chemotherapy.

A Collingwood supporter growing up was, Roughy, not that that deserves any more empathy or sympathy than any human going through the same situation.

Best of luck, Roughy.

Go the Pies!

I read somewhere a few years back that Roughy was a North Melbourne supporter growing up, but maybe he was indeed a Collingwood supporter but that's trivial when we discuss this whole situation now.

Watching AFL 360 last night, I got the distinct impression from watching Jordan Lewis speak about Roughy's news that the prognosis is not good and is far worse than his first diagnosis of cancer last year, but I hope I'm wrong about that. The fact that we're talking about the cancer spreading to other parts of his body is seriously concerning news for his welfare and long-term future.

Even if Roughy does make a full recovery from this latest health setback I don't think he'll return to football and frankly I wouldn't blame him as he's already achieved nearly everything that most professional footballers dream of when they first enter the system.

Wishing him all the best in what will be a tough few months coming up for him in his treatment of a serious illness that takes far too many lives and is sadly indiscriminate to all of us whether it be directly or through someone we know.

You can leave a message on the Hawthorn FC website and they are giving it to him in a book in a few weeks. It's going to be a big book. Good bloke and wish him all the best.

Shattering news.

You have to love the way Australia have gotten behind him. Doesn't matter which team you're a part of, we all want to see Roughy back out there again.

Peter Crimmins. He had the sports shop next to us. Ironically the Hawthorn Footy Club had him buying smokes off Peter Knights who was a brilliant footy player but a numbskull.

Nobody, but nobody, deserves to go through this. All the money that gets wasted, makes me so mad, this disease needs to be wiped out.

Good luck roughy. May you beat this bastard. Xxxx

If it's loose, he's farked.

He might beat it this time, but his card is marked.

Sorry Rough, my old man died from this. Took over 40 years to get him in the end but it did despite getting half his face removed, radiation treatment and having to drink through a straw and eat with a spoon for the last 10 years.

Best wishes to Roughead, not a fate I'd wish on anyone and he by all accounts is a good bloke (not that that means anything, Cancer doesn't discriminate) so I hope he can recover and enjoy life while he can.

A good mate of mine who is a life long Hawthorn member said Roughead will never play AFL again and has a hell of a fight on his hands. Like many of us, I have known some to succumb to this. Let's hope his prognosis is a healthy one. But once it metastasizes you need all the luck you can get.
For those who know his family they are rock solid legends in South Gippsland.

Apparently the Roughead family have a street named after them in Leongatha so I gather they're very well-known and respected in the area.

I feel sorry for anyone touched by the C word. I would just suggest that by all reports he is the only person suffering from this condition. He will get the best medical care money can buy. As for those on the public health system, good luck.
