Why haven't Geelong fallen

They beat us in the 2011 GF with a much older side and have had more retirements than us.
They also have a very young coach (younger than Buckley).
They have since rebuilt their side and now are the flag favourites.
Why have they been able to rebuild with more retirements and in a quicker timeframe?

They have a great football department with a strong head office.
Pretty simple.

A couple of years ago they were on par or just behind us, Danger, Smith, Henderson, Selwood, retiring old stars gradually and a backline that hasn't changed much over the years, that's where most of their experience is and starts from.
Duncan
Guthrie
Motlop
Caddy
Selwood
Danger
Bews
Lang
Bartel - handy midfield
And two good ruckman + a op line full forward

The media sucking up to Danger is pretty nauseating. Granted, they are still a good side, but once the likes of Lonergan, taylor, Enright, bartell, and duckwood call it a day, they could crash pretty fast.

Perhaps they have a "mini-dynasty".
Anyway, we can discuss this further in "other AFL".

Better culture on and off the field. Hardly think messrs:
* Selwood
* Taylor
* Enright
* Kelly (when there)
* Lonergan
* Hawkins
* Guthrie
Would go on off season benders then walk in and "self-report", blame the hierarchy for picking Chris Scott over Sanderson and sulk when things get tough!!!

They've blown us away in the drafting stakes, but then again most teams have, they also blow us away in the leadership department, Selwood may not be quite as talented as Pendles as a player, but as an overall package he's worth much more.

I can't help but admire their longevity at the top. They haven't bottomed out the way most teams have.

^ don't forget about the Swans.
I think WCE are not as good as last year, but they could still finish in the top 4.
I don't think the Hawks will finish in the top 4.
But anything can still happen.
