Just saw on 7 news David King has been charged after winning a fair bit on the Rising Star award last year.

At the present time it seems like a police investigation according to this article especially as it hasn't been formally interviewed by the police.

Didn't the hot favourite win the award last season anyway?

King is only a commentator these days isn't he and not working for any club?

Isn't he allowed to bet on football?

I think Fox Footy hosted the Rising Star awards and King is an employee of Fox Footy so it's being assumed that he may have known about the result prior to it being officially announced.

I'm not sure about the legalities of whether he's allowed to bet on football or not. I assume as a commentator he may have more leeway than players and coaches would.
