Williamstown Team of the Century

Post by Stunning Steve McKee »

The Team of the Century function has proved to be popular amongst the members and supporters of the Williamstown Football Club. At present, over 430 people have booked seats for the function, which is a tremendous response so far out from the event. However, it must be stressed that numbers for this function are limited, so any persons who have yet to make a booking need to do so immediately in order to guarentee themselves a seat for the night. Tickets cost $120 each. Tables of 10 are available for $1100 and tables of 12 for $1320 (a saving of $10 per ticket).

It has been confirmed that media personality Eddie McGuire will be the host of the function. The night will be opened by the Honourable Mr Steve Bracks, the Premier of Victoria as well as Williamstown's Number 1 ticket holder.

At present the Club still has 13 of the 100 nominated players for whom the player or a Next of Kin for the player has yet to be contacted. It is important that the player (or a Next of Kin) is contacted so that an official certificate to commemorate their selection can be issued. Listed below are the players who we still wish to contact through a living family member. Anyone who can provide us with information to assist the Club with this search please contact the Club on 93900611.

Robert Briggs 1907-08 & 13, Jim Caldwell 1904, 07-08 & 21-22, Gordon Cameron 1946-52, Doug Dowling 1945-48, Harry Haughton 1920-22, Neville Huggins 1936-37, Stan Lawler 1934-39, Fred Matthews 1945-51, Jack Patterson B&F 1939, Geoff Spring 1945-47, Arthur Sykes B&F 1930, 31 & 32, Ron Todd 1940-41 & 45-49 and Bill Wells 1939, 46, 49 & 51.

We are pleased to announce that Steve Zammit, lead singer of Anthem of a Seafaring Man has joined forces with a group of leading musicians domiciled in and around Williamstown, to provide a special 6 piece band to provide the musical content for the night.
