Latest news from Point Gellibrand

Post by Dale61 »

As reported in this week's Hobsons Bay Times, The Magpies and Seagulls have been in discussions about extending their alliance to 2008. Williamstown general manager Brendan Curry has been engaged in preliminary talks with Magpies chief executive, former Seagulls president and player Greg Swann and the Pies general manager - football operations Neil Balme about a five-year extension.

"We have been very happy with our initial association with Collingwood which finishes at the end of next year," Curry said. "We are mighty proud of the Pies playing off in last season's grand final."

In other news, there has been an alliance between the Williamstown football and cricket clubs. They have submitted a fully costed $800,000 redevelopment of Point Gellibrand, during the next three to the Hobsons Bay Council. It includes the provision of under cover social facilities for 500 people at the tennis courts end. "We have received criticism in the past for not providing facilities for disabled people in the existing Floyd Pavilion," Curry said. "The new facility would eliminate that concern."

"Racetracks are for racing, roads are for getting there."
