Rollercoaster season could finish on a high.

From the Williamstown Advertiser.

The Williamstown Seagulls are set to swoop in the VFL finals.

Confidence is skyhigh among coach Brad Gotch and his assitants that the player group can cause some havoc.

The Seagulls are flying high after outplaying reigning premiers Box Hill in the wind at Point Gellibrand Oval last Saturday.

Collingwood-listed stars Brodie Holland and Shane O'Bree were tough in the clinches.

"We've got a bit of confidence that when we're on song we're going to take a bit of beating," club general manager Brendan Curry said.

"We think there's a few teams who have got the staggers a bit."

Curry described the win as "one of our better performances of the year".

"We've got to back it up," he added, in reference to the side's frustrating run of win, loss, win, loss, win, loss, win over the past seven rounds.

Williamstown play 11th-placed Essendon at Windy Hill in the 19th round this Sunday.

They annihilated the Bombers by 85 points - 25.18.168 to 12.11.83 - at Point Gellibrand in round four.

The third placed reserves play bottom-of-the-ladder Springvale at Moorabbin this Saturday, 11.20am start.

Dashing half-back flanker Nathan Lovett-Murray has emerged as one of the favourites to win the VFL's prestigious Fothergill-Round Medal which recognises the young player most likely to step up to AFL ranks.

"Racetracks are for racing, roads are for getting there."
