Stone the Crow, Justin's on fire.

Post by Dale61 »

This from the Williamstown Advertiser.

Second-game rookie Justin Crow is being hailed as the hero of Williamstown's stunning come-from-behind win over fellow top contender Murray Kangaroos at Coburg last Sunday. (31/6)

The 18-year-old son of former Essendon, St kilda and Footscray player Max Crow displayed tremendous endeavour in the ruck, opposed to AFL 50-gamer Mark Porter, to help inspire the Seagulls.

"We were absolutely rapt with him - he's a kid who really wants to improve," club manager Brendan Curry said.

Other stars included half-back Nathan Lovett-Murray, centre half-back Mark Richardson and rover Andrew Dimattina (four goals).

Coach Brad Gotch's move of fullback Donato DeAngelis (two goals) to full-forward in the last quarter was a master stroke as Williamstown slammed on 6.4 to 2.0 to shellshock the KAngaroos.

Curry described the game as a "mini-final".

"We had to step up - we just had to beat one of these premiership contenders," he said.

The Seagulls host Tasmania at Point Gellibrand Oval this Saturday.

The reserves again play Werribee at 11.20am.
