As mentioned in the thread covering the fixture, AFL Victoria in their wisdom have decided to fixture an inaugural Good Friday match in season 2012, to be played between Bendigo and Port Melbourne.
Bold move. But it has already hit stormy weather, with the local council having to intervene in a scheduling clash between the VFL match and the Bendigo Football League, regarding the use of Queen Elizabeth Oval on Good Friday.
You'd think the mandarins at AFL Victoria would know who is using what ground and when, and design a clash-free fixture accordingly...
Football on Good Friday has been a contentious subject over the years. What do we think of this decsion? Is it a good idea or a bad one? Is it a perfect compromise between having AFL on the day and not having it, or is it the thin end of the wedge? Should the match be given to two clubs, like ANZAC Day and Queen's Birthday, or should it rotate? Should Collingwood get involved and petition for the match in 2013?

Good Friday is perfect for football. They should have a match between the two grand finalists every year, and nail the losing captain to the cross after the match.MagpieBat wrote:As mentioned in the thread covering the fixture, AFL Victoria in their wisdom have decided to fixture an inaugural Good Friday match in season 2012, to be played between Bendigo and Port Melbourne.

Love to see the Pies play a VFL match at Vic Park on Good Friday. Most boring day of the year.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
