I went out to Scum Park (Visy Park) to watch our last ever game there today.
Here's a report;
A player review;
Rusling; Started on the bench, really struggled in the backline early, yet looked very good late in the game, including a mark and goal right on the final siren.
McCarthy; Started brilliantly off half forward, kicking 2 great goals in the first quarter. Moved onto the ball in the 2nd half, and showed patches of brilliance, but is still just not quite there yet.
Goldsack; Best on Ground, of the players in contention anyway. Controlled the backline all day, and moved onto the ball in the 3rd to spark us, which he did, very good game.
Cox; Seemed slow at times, but was never beaten one-on-one defensively, good effort, not great though.
Corrie; No Comment, delist please.
Nathan Brown; Struggled up forward early, with a large bandage on his knee. When he was moved down back in the 2nd half, looked very good, still in contention, may need 1 more game for fitness.
Clarke; Got better as the game went on, and was very good in the last quarter, the best game I've seen from Marty since he came back, good signs.
Reid; Our future CHB, uses the ball, runs lighting quick for a big bloke, and doesnt get beat one-on-one. Not in contention this year, but is a large part of our future.
Sidebottom; Damn I love this kid, started the game off on fire, winning every clearance, and kicking the first goal on the run from outside 50. Struggled after half time, but burnt in the last, setting up just about every one of our last quarter goals. WILL BE A FRICKIN SUPESTAR.
Rocca; Gone. Sorry, but he can't jump at all. Had 6-7 shots at goal, and only kicked 2. Lacks any agility or ability to jump in contests.
Blight; Did some very nice things, still developing, and is a very good future prospect as a half back flanker / medium defender.
Stanley; No Comment, Delist.
Cook; Tried hard all day, but his skills were ordinairy. Tough decision whether to keep him or not.
McCaffer; Very good in patches, off half back for most of the match. Future prospects still bright.
Dawes; I liked his game, many didnt at the ground, but he contested well, and took 2 strong marks in the 1st quarter. 2 goals (I think), and played forward ruck for most of the game. Will make it as a key forward, needs more time.
Reed; Has amazing pace for his size, didnt do a lot but is improving.
Bryan; BEST ON GROUND. Won't play again this year barring injuries to 2 rucks, but he should be kept on the list. Was finally allowed to play the no.1. ruck today, and killed them. His best VFL game ever, or at least that I've seen.
Dyas; I could go negative here, because he did a lot wrong, but one run through the middle and perfect delivery to Dawes in the last showed he has something, worth persisting with.
Barham; DIDNT PLAY, LEFT AS EMERGENCY FOR SENIORS.
Keefe; I wish he wouldve played as second ruck today. Too slow when the ball hits the ground to play in the backline. Long term RUCK prospect.
Blair; You can't tackle this little bugger, has great strong legs and hips, and a lot of skill. Too early to promote him yet, but he does have a little bit of Brent Harvey in him, in every way.
Bennell; First time I've seen him live, since pre season training anyway. Speedy, skillfull, and kicked a nice goal from a hand off. Worth perservering with as a small forward.
Peverill; Was very good today, helped out the midfield and half forwards all day, and was a very important part in our dominance. Seems to be fit for the first time all year, just in time for the finals hopefully.
Was a good win, standouts were Sidebottom, Bryan, McCarthy, Reid and Clarke, who are all considerations and backups for the finals.
Thank god that's the last game we will ever play at Scum Park, the Collingwood boys once again had to run 500m out the back of the ground to get to the 120 year old change rooms. Great Job to the organisers down there.
And by the way, the new Carlton "training" area looks like the Pits at Albert Park, boring, straigh and no imagination in design, perfect for those bastards.
Apart from the 3rd quarter was a good day, had fun.

Had 26 disposals and 7 tackles, I still think he is 1 more game away from senior footy, might make his season debut in September.

mcCarthy played well to earn a spot in the team.
rocca took a good pack mark in the last qtr. thou he struggles to run these days looked stuffed after a few runs for the ball.
goldy did well in the backline
bennel another solid game
corrie see ya later, glad we got him for pick 90 sumfin
brown did well, don't know why he plays up forward when in afl he plays back
ruzza did ok, played back most of the game and at 1 stage was at full back (last man in defensive 50) thou he pushed up come 3rd and 4th qrts. he should be at full forward
bryan did well also. thou wont get a game and it has to be said that he probz wont be with us next year unless he has a contract still. mm wont play him
the 3rd qtr killed us and early in the 4th the "dole cheats" had a sniff. we were lucky to kick the goals we did against the flow of play
the highlight was when the holy grail song was blaring from the speakers at half time or something

I went along today as well, very much looking forward to next year when we're back at Viccy Park.
Mattys123 has summed it up pretty well.
Keefe is definitely too immobile & lumbering to be a key back. He really struggles when the ball is on the ground & is very slow. Ruck is where we should be playing him.
Goldy was BOG for me, I thought he was very good.
I thought Scott Reed did some good things. He had a 2 on 1 on the boundary line, kept the ball in, burnt off both of his opponents & kicked the ball into our forward 50. He has some real pace, definitely worth persisting with.
Does anyone know if our John Bennell is related to Jamie Bennell at Melbourne?

Swan is down, Swan kicks the goal! And everything here will be a Magpie celebration!
