Yep if we want to be there we must back this win up with the same hardness and desperation as Friday night. Boys, I'm pretty sure that this week will be a bit of a let-down, both in effort and enthusiasm.
When you build up to the massive game like last week and lay 85 tackles, you have to expect it.
The real question is; given that reduction in effort, CAN we still beat the Eagles. The answer is obviously yes.
But WILL we beat them?

Ok while i'll get the ball rolling.
All the talk last week was about Rocca against his nemesis in Matty Scarlett.
I actually think he faces his real nemesis this week in Darren Glass. This guy has eaten up Rocca in the past and has proved too strong in the one on ones. His suttle nudges have forced Rocca out of position on many occassions.
The same tactic has to be employed this week. Rocca must play CHF and drag Glass away, leaving Trav the 50 to himself.
I dont think West Coast will fall into Geelong's trap of leaving Glass outside 50, i predict this time they will send him back onto Trav. If thats the case, i would also be leading Trav out and leaving the forward line for Medhurst and Josh to float down. Either that or exploit the match-up on Glass with Trav. Glass has had a lot of goals kicked on him this year, mostly from quick lead up forwards like Fevola. Trav should exploit him pace wise....but the marking department is a worry since Trav relies on contested marks.
The key is, dont leave Rocca alone in the goalsquare with Glass. Push him up the ground and see if Glass follows.
I'm sure there will be some doubt as to Leon. If he doesnt pull up, then the replacement could be Egan as he has a good history against the Eagles going back to when we were bottom and they were top.
Otherwise, wouldnt mind bringing in Lonie as he has a good record when playing on Embley. Lonie v Embley is an ideal matchup. Neither tough but each damaging. Doubt Lonie will crack into the side, despite been named emergency for the last few weeks. But if Leon is out, it is a distinct possibility purely based on mathups. Embley was adjudged BOG last week.
Otherwise Isles must also be close, or Cook to come back to play on Priddis.
Assuming they go with the same side that beat Adelaide last week...the big jobs will be:
Defence:
Wakelin v Lynch
Nathan Brown v Josh Kennedy (or vice versa, Brown may go to Lynch)
Staker will most likely go up forward as he has over the past fortnight...most likely to see Maxwell get the job.
Harry v McKinley who has been the suprise packet for the Eagles this year. Otherwise Harry can go onto Armstrong if he plays small forward.
Middle:
O'Bree v Priddis
Swan v Embley (if Lonie isnt in the side)...or Dale Thomas to exploit him for accountability.
Burns v Braun
Wellingham v Fletcher or Rosa
Then you have to be mindful of young Ebert and Masten who will become frontline players...wouldnt mind seeing head to head matchups with Thomas and Pendlebury. Our kids have more experience and should give them a lesson.
Forward:
Stenglein will surely get Didak. He took Porplyzia on the HFF last week and keeps getting this sort of role. He is one of the better shut down players in the league...but fair to say Porplyzia beat him last week. That said, Stenglein was influential when he had the ball. Didak will have to make sure he remains accountable.
Im sure they will start young Wilkes on Trav, with Glass on Rocca. They are missing Hunter...and have been affected by no Chick. Staker may swap back to the backline to take one of these roles as they seem short down back.
Reckon Selwood will then take Heath Shaw in a defensive forward role as he did on Mcleod last week. Absolute squashed mcleod last week.
Then the big one: Dean Cox.
Do we retain Bryan after a fortnight of good footy, or bring in the more technical Cameron Wood.
Although i am a strong critic of Bryan's ability to back up after a good game, there is no way you can drop him. Reckon he is a good option as he can make Cox pay if he doesnt follow him.
Also, Josh had a pretty easy game last week, and should be feeling pretty fresh after his injury. Josh has a good record on Cox and is known to hurt him around the ground just as much. Seaby was dropped last week, and i reckon they will leave him dropped and use Kennedy as their backup ruck. Cox is not accountable, so if Josh and Bryan can sneak up forward, we should be able to tag team him nicely.
Also, Cox enjoys filling the hole down back and getting a few cheap possessions. If he does this, i would be putting Bryan around the centre square and tell him to use his big kick.
The problem is Cox is a wonderful tap ruckman as well...and Fraser and Bryan are definitely not. He has the potential to kill us in the centre.
All in all, doesnt matter how much we analyse it, if we tackle as hard as we did last week, we will win.
Despite the big names out of the side....any midfield consisting of Braun, Embley, Stenglein and Priddis should be taken seriously. Lynch can go crazy, and Cox can potentially destroy us in the ruck.
Its all about the tackling and accountability. They are the 2 things that has always crippled the Eagles. If we allow it to be too free flowing and we do not choke them up in the middle, it will be closer than we think.

Yer, thats the only proviso i would bring him into the side. Obviously you would not make any changes to the side that thrashed Geelong. They all have their tales up now and every player had a good game.
If Davis is out, i think we should bring someone like Lonie in while the team has a bit of confidence. Lonie could be the iceing on the cake and is the obvious ideal match up for Embley and has done good jobs in the past.
Pendles v Embley is also mouth watering. Could even see Thomas get this one.

All of a sudden our midfield is one of our strengths. Pendlebury, Swan, Didak, Burns, R.Shaw (having a brilliant season), Davis, O'Bree, Wellingham (how good is this kid) and Clarke (returning to form)... it can be competitive with any and will only get better.
Lets hope guys like Lockyer, Johnson and Thomas can turn there poor form around and we are looking very very good.
It might be West Coast that have to worry about our midfield. Also, expect Davis to bounce back and have a good game.
