Ried should play. If Cloke doesn't come up - play Ried AND Dawes. Expect Didak / Thomas to play more up the ground this week (and Davis to continue to do so).
Richmond were smashed in the clearances last week - they will be again.
I started to do the matchups, but really it just got too hard to find players that needed stopping! Johnson will have a big one (you would expect) if his bladder can hold out - put O'Bree on him and have a good old fashioned midfield duel, Foley needs to be stopped (R. Shaw - just get 15 tackles son, that's your job) Pettifer in attack (H. Shaw) N. Brown on Richo and, given his performance last week, Maxwell on their N.Brown. He may be too slow, but I think it might work for us, their Brown had a shocker last week. If Maxy is too slow, we have plenty of other options.
Fraser / Wood need to be careful to follow Simmons - he's underrated, he floated forwards well last week and was dangerous, we'e all licking our lips at the prospect of having Fraser float forwards as the "4th" tall but don't forget about Simmons doing it the other way.
That's about it. We need to go tall in attack to force them to play Shultz in defence (personally I'd play Polak there, but Wallace like Polak at CHF, their loss ). Richmond's young midfielders will have to play blinders to stop Swan / Pendez / Lockyer / Davis / SSB. And to compound their issues, some of them will have to be given dedicated defensive roles on Didak / thomas / Medhurst (given he had a good game last week) - perhaps I'm optimistic, but our side seems to have too much CLASS...
Been a while since we could say that
Let me restate (just in case MM presses the wrong button and manages to read this) Ried must play....
Pies by 50 if we can hold Richo, by 30 if we can't.

OUT Egan
IN Reid
Racer tags, its the only way he can hold his position in the team. Every good side needs a stopper so Racer gets a chance to reinvent himself.
Johson is holding players back, and is an exception for now to our youth policy but that should not last if he doesnt start performing.
Richmond like to run and attack, so if we play them tight we should rip them apart on the flip side when we have posession.
Foley killed us last year, dont think he will be doing that again.
Pies by 10 goals.

It doesn't say anything on the CFC website about Cloke, so I'm assuming he'll be right to play on Sunday. However, Goldsack is reported to have a broken nose & will be tested. Apparently both trained indoors yesterday.
I guess we won't know the ins & outs for certain until they run out on the day.

Jocular, your bias is showing on a frequent basis these days! Not to say that Master Dawes doesn't deserve a serve of match time, but there are several other laddies in the mix now and team balance will inevitably be the weekly arbiter on who gets to trot and who doesn't.Jock McPie wrote:

Possibility if Goldsack doesnt come up that John Anthony gets his crack...also the possibility of Cloke not coming up could give Dawes a crack as well.
The key is to stop Foley in the clearances and to get some numbers around Richo...they are extremely predictable going forward.
Look for Rhyce Shaw to tag Deledio...even though he is been used as a forward flanker mostly this season. Rhyce is probably the only one with enough pace to match him. Deledio is inconsistent but we want to make sure he doesnt have a good game after he found some decent nick against the kanga's last week.
Nathan Brown to have first crack at Richo, but again dropping numbers back is vital.
Pressure out of defence is also crucial. Tigers love running the ball from defence. They have a number of quarter backs.
Jake King, Joel Bowden, Jordan McMahon, Raines and Newman. Raines may be injured.
Definitely need to see a lot of pressure put on these guys...all bar Bowden as iffy if they are put under pressure. They beat us last time by rebounding and owning the centre corridor. Definitely a shut down style of game will do the job. Not allowing them loose chip kicks and maintaining possession will be vital.
