Cameron Wood and Nathan Brown sensational first games for the Pies. Wood looks like he could take the number one ruck spot from Fraser before the mid-season break.
Only down side was the injury to Rusling, hopefully he's back on the field in the near future. Though in the mean time now we get to see most likely Reid play a few games.
Very, very exciting times for the Pies ahead.

My one minute assessment:
Good first up game - great opening and last quarter. Skills well off, however, would expect to improve from here. If we kicked straight would have one by a lot more.
Congratulations to Wood and Brown - good first up games.
Rocca is looking smooth - hopefully back to his pre-injury self.
That second goal from Leon was a highlight - it was at that point when the pies were starting to look on-song.
Great to have footy back.

i agree. THe Injury to Rusling is really discouraging....but Brown and Wood?
Holy crap...it was Brown's first game and he made Pavlich his bitch. It was like watching Presti in full flight. He's big, he's strong, he's fast....and knows how to blanket an opponent. Presti Mark 2?
And Wood. Right from teh first tap it was clear that he is the first guy since Monky to truly look like a ruckman. Better than Richards and Bryan combined.

Funny thing is the Pies didn't actually play that well. There's still alot of improvement to be made, which in itself is very encouraging.
Even with all that and a first gamer playing on their best player, the boys still had a convincing win over what is apparently a top four side.

Our field kicking was terrible today! our backline was very good but if we can stop conceding red time goals we will smash sides and go a long way to finnishing a lot higher on the ladder.
Great to have a first up win and more importantly didn't have to listen to that heave ho crap if we had of lost!
Shame about the Ruz but the player who replaces him Ried/Dawes better take thier opportunity by the scruff of the neck!
Cam wood gave me wood today! yea baby.
Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!
