Would have liked to see Cooke in. Stanley may take Tooves spot, but on hindsight you cant change too many around! Sticks played well last week but I rekon Bryan is better suited against the physical Dees.. Should be a close onemelliot wrote:Tooves needs a good game to maintain his spot you'd think.

How's this for a plan for Tooves...
Following is great success in the position against Richmond....how about we play to our strengths (instead of focussing on our weakened defensive lineup) and slot Toovey in up forward.
That makes 3 tall forwards (Rocca, Cloke and Toovey) that need tall defenders to mind them...thus hopefully preventing guys like Miller pushing forward to expose our clearly weakened defence.
Also Fraser and Bryan will BOTH push forward at times, and the only time this won;t hurt them too much, is if they rest White down back playing on Fraser...Johnson cant do this, and you wouldnt think they'd play White on Bryan when he is forward (exposing Johnson to Fraser in the ruck) so Bryan resting up forward can force another possible mismatch...but more importantly...keeps their tall KPP's in our forward 50, not theirs.
Ive said it before, and ill say it again...i want Harry on Neitz first. We can rotate him with Wakes if he can't do the job, but i think its important to show him that we have full confidence in his stopping-ability, and that he can be FB one day. Neitz won't have much advantage in body strength in a wrestle, and Harry will slaughter him in speed. I think its a great matchup that will keep Netiz from getting easy marks on a lead from some of their better midfielders.
EDIT: Oh, and whoever Maxxy plays on...he must be told PLAY IN FRONT!. Sick of maxxy getting caught out of position behind the player and trying to swat the ball away. Play his opponent in front, and at least that way it will be HIM getting the free kick for soft 'in the back' rather than giving it away trying to come of the top and spoil.

Bryan is good to go, just adds flexibility and stretchs the dees defence. Look for Fraser to play well. Plenty of run in that side, will go along way to beating the dees.
We know Bryan can play forward...can he play a defensive role though?

agree! The backline sure looks very thin
Hope I'm wrong but I can't see Wakelin doing the job on Neitz.

QB Match....The Test - Pre-Match Thread
This will be the biggest test of the year to date ladies and gentleman. Melbourne have their best team for the year in monday, the same team that made the finals last year but has been missing all this year. This time last year we were flying, then we came up against the dees, got belted and it sorta set us off downwards a bit we had a few good wins later on, but we hadnt been thrashed all year and it started the negative spin...the result against the tigers didnt help either.
This year, like last we have a few injuries going into the game, but instead of replacing them with spuds like Rowe, Yakka & Fanning, we have some quality hard solid kids and veterans.
Time for the pies to make a stand and set up the 2nd half of the year. WE ARE GOOD ENOUGH and owe these pricks after 3 years of floggings.
