Good to see Egan get a chance even if it's for Didak

That sucks.
I guess Egan has a chance now to prove himself, though.

Early 2nd quarter and the youngsters are doing great in the clearances.

The umpires ae complete goons. 1st quarter they gave the Pies two or three soft ones, 2nd quarter they are crucifying us.

Collingwood by a point at half time. Aided by some disgracefully bad free kicks, Adelaide kicked three to level the scores. Our tackling and running is still good, but not a patch on what we produced against Essendon. Heath Shaw is very quiet, almost unsghted.

Cloke and Rocca are both playing in the square, both trying hard, and Cloke has taken two or three excellent marks. Trouble is, he is taking then on the boundary most of the time, and mostly missing. Something like 1 goal, three points, two missed everything. But he is kicking with confidence and flow: if he keeps grabbig it he will start kicking them.

Rocca is bustling and flying, but has yetto stamp his authority on the game. Egan, especially in the 1st quarter, kept finding space and getting the ball in dangerous places, but lacks confidence in his disposal.

Mids: Swan is winning the hard ball, Burns is Burns, Jonno and Lockyer are providing run and accurate delivery (though they both seem a little down on pace to me). Pendles has done a couple of brilliant things and a number of good ordinary things. Dick does a lot better in tight than that slight body indicated. Probably the best of the three new boys so far. Thomas is flashy and accurate, but needs to do more. Fraser has played well, more as a winger than a ruckman. (When, when, when are we going to get a ruckman?)

Leon, playing as a mid/half-back, has done pretty well, but I think we need him up forward. Harry hasn't done a single thing wrong, probably our best player for the 1st half. (Victim of some shocking umpiring decisions, however.) Presti went of with an ankle (?) injury and Cox had to play on a man far too tall for him, who kicked a couple. Things looked very ugly 2/3rd of the way through the 2nd. Maxwell and Harry, aided by Clement and (of all people) Leon steadied us up, and Presti's return late in the quarter made our defence.

Rhyce Shaw is doing OK, Heater has to lift, Maxwell just tries and tries and tries, above all else, we need a half-forward line that works.

My moves:
Cloke to CHF.
Leon to the pocket.
Daisy to stand by Cloke at CHF and give us something to kick to. Swap with Pendles into the middle.
Presti to full-back (a no-brainer)

Heath Shaw to HFF. He is getting caned. Put Cox or Toovey on his man.

Amazing 3rd term!

Crows kick 6 straight, the Pies can only kick points and posters, getting hammered in the clearances.

Then, around 1/3rd of the way in, Bryan goes to FF, Rocca to CHF, Heater lifts, Burns gets a ton of it, Leon in the middle thinks he's Burns with class, O'Bree is the link-man, Rhyce Shaw just wn't stop running and kicking it long. All of a sudden we are attacking instead of buggerising around. The goals follow: 5 straight.

Bryan from a mark.
Bryan from a mark.
Cloke from a mark on the boundary.
Thomas on the run.
And Lockyer does another one of his trademark steals off an opposition pass. Runs like hell to make the spoil, roves his own tap, a lightning handball to Bryan in the square, and another goal.

Great quarter. But we can't stop now!
