Pre Match - Pies v. Dons on Anzac Day. All comments.

Changes for Wednesday:

At this early stage I am thinking;

Out: Richards, Dick, Licuria (inj)
In: Bryan, Egan, Didak (or Medhurst)

Reason for Egan is he gives us fresh legs.

If Buckley can play then Toovey unfortunately falls out.

I'd try to keep Toovey if possible, we'll need pace against the Dons and he was far from the worst yesterday. We need fresh legs, though, and I'm thinking of Ben Davies in the midfield. Sure, not the greatest kick, but he does have speed and carry.

Now been reported that Licuria out for 3 weeks with hammy, Presti out with a groin, Burns and Thomas also unlikely with knee and ankle soreness respectively.

If those 4 were out then I might think it looks like this;

Out Richards, Dick, Licuria, Burns, Presti, Thomas (inj)
In Bryan, Egan, Medhurst, Didak, Wakelin, Davies or Reid

How on earth is Egan going to give us fresh legs when he played for Williamstown today? He is going to be more buggered than the Seniors who played on Saturday. I doubt Egan will play.

Licca for Illes
Presti for Wakes
Dick for Didak
Cox for Medhurst
Richards for Bryan

If MM doesnt make the change of Byan and Richards this is going to be a bad day. We can bring in some major experience and some heavy goal scoring power, we loose nothing for a day like anzac day and gain a physical ruckman. I think we can win it, but we wont win it with Richards in the side, and Dick needs to be dropped asap as he is shying away from contests, needs some beef. Cox and Toovs have shown enough, sad for Cox but we need to strengthen the forward line.

I'm with you 90% of the way Jimbeam. My only difference is that I can't see Cox being dropped.

in: Didak, Medhurst, Bryan, Reid, Isles, Wakelin

out: Richards, Licuria (injured), Dick, Cox, Presti (injured), Toovey

If Burns doesnt pull up, then Davies can come in for him.

A lot of changes i know...but we have to try and freshen up for ANZAC day.

Both Cox and Toovey will definitely play.

For what its worth:

OUTS: Richards, Licuria, Presti, Thomas, Burns, Rocca (Suspended- cheap AFL ploy to keep us down)

In: Reid, Davies, Medhurst, Iles, Bryan, Wakelin

I think Bucks will not play again, and that Dids wont be seen till after the mid-season break.

I think we'll still do ok against the dons- the key (again) will be the rucks; if we can break even there we may be achance- would love to see Reid given a chance at full-forward on the big day.

I think that we'll make no more than four changes (unless injuries force us to do more). The reason being, whilst we need fresh legs, too many changes would destabilize the team. Which four depends on Burns & Thomas. If they come up then I think the outs will be Licuria, Prestigiacomo, Dick & Richards. If they don't then replace Dick & Richards with Burns & Thomas.

Ins (depending on fitness): Didak, Medhurst, Bryan & either Reid or Wakelin

Is that a fact or generalization? I dont want to drop cox rude, but max can go back anzac day, we can use the extra forwards, if we dont essendon will rebound something stupid, im already worried about cloke? Mcphee is in AA form and killing teams with his run and class, we need more forwards so we can avoid going to Trav and Ant too often. MM has a real chance if medders and dids are set loose, some nice decoys and space we could match their 2 peanuts lucas and fairy diver, can win the midfield and hopefully smash them in the ruck if hille is out and bryan gets the chain taken off. They are all hype the dons, if we can get our forward pressure on it will be a close game. We will win or loose this game in our forward line. We need to stack it and keep it in their, move off our players when they rebound and trap them when they go forward.

The trouble is, we don't want to make too many changes, as it could potentially upset the team's structure.

Bryan should come in for Richards, I think most of us are in agreement there. Wakelin is a pretty obvious replacement for Presti, and Medhurst for Licca.
If Burns and/or Thomas don't pull up, you'd think about bringing in Davies and/or Reid, or Didak if he pulls up (which I reckon is unlikely, even though he was an emergency on Saturday).
While Dick and Cloke underperformed last week, we can't really afford to drop them in light of the injuries. I can't believe people are suggesting that we should drop Toovey or Cox, Toovey was great yesterday, and Cox was certainly far from our worst.

We would certainly not want to make more than 5 changes, actually probably 4 at most. Any more than that is too much.

So if Buckley, Didak and Medhurst were all ready and obviously Wakes has to replace Presti and Bryan needs to come in, you wouldnt bring them all back? Even though this game is the perfect chance if they are ready as they have an extra break to be ready for the next game as the 1st game back is always the toughest

I don't think thomas will play, Burns is more of a chance of getting up. We really need presti, wakes on lloyd is already scaring me.
