great finish in the end, big comeback :) and what about Toovey and Dick, 5 between them on debut. MM is one smart guy.

MM is a genius! Gee why do we have to give the opposition big headstarts. Its happened 3 weeks in a row now! Pies will have to work on that, will not want to give Power or Bombers a head start in next few weeks as we may not peg them back! Great win tonight against the odds with Clemo pulling out before the match and Wakes playing injured.

I'm always fascinated by footy fans being amazed/surprised that the other team, the opposition, comes hard as us - at anyone - and has early success.

The mark of a good team in any sport is to absorb the oppo's best without too much scoreboard damage and then to run over the top of them or at least be ahead at the final siren.

Isn't it amazing how often Richmond players drove us into the ground in the guise of a "tackle" and those slag umpires let the play go?
A little more pressure from the forwards would be nice, their cowards ran away out of defence way too easily with the ball, and with nobody near them.
Cannot believe Rocca's miss for goal on 3/4 time siren. Unreal.

Terrific win.

Woeful first half when the skills were as bad as I have ever seen them. Fraser was getting trounced along with Richards and the midfielders were nowhere to be seen other than Tarks and Burns. Toovey was working hard up front but that was it. Licca nearly had Burns killed with a pass in the pocket and every senior bloke was missing targets coming into HF. Down back Wakes and Presti were getting taken apart. Shaw boys were turning the ball over from kick outs. Cloke whilst having a go was not hurting bodies when he should have. Davis nowhere to be seen, Licca coughing it up. To top it off the umps werent giving us a great go.

Then came the second half and you can turn everything I just wrote on its head. For me the instigators were Lockyer, Burns, Swan, Thomas, Pendlebury, Dick, Fraser, OBrien, R.Shaw, OBree and Toovey. The pressure they put Richmond under was incredible. Rich just could not get an easy position and one had the feeling that having al but drawn level 10 mins into the third qtr something special was building. Personally, I thought Burns and Tark were sensational and Pendles, Dick, Thomas gave incredible run. Cloke continued to work hard and Rocca came into the game and should have kicked a goal 3/4 time.

In the last we just took off and cleared out by 3 goals and they never got within 2 for the reast of the game. Medhurst and Rocca were magnificent in the last as were Swan, Burns, Locky and OBree. Also thought Maxy, OBrien and Presti really started to control the back and Presti tore up Richo in the last qtr. Rhyce whilst making a bad mistake in the third kept on running and presenting. Heath was being tagged in the last half but still took some solid marks and was good. Fraser took control of the middle as Simmonds tired and Pattison faded. Rocca had Bowden moved but the damage was done.

MM would be happy overall but worried about the start when intensity was average. Richmond will be filthy they could not beat us after the start they had, 6 of our best out, and 22 up at the half.....GOOD!

Comments on the kids;

Dick - Fabulous. Pace, skill, decision making all first class. Puts his head over and not afraid. Chases as well.
Cox - Ok. Tambling was a bad match up and Tambo got the better but Cox was ok and made some good decisions. Was not out of his class.
Toovey - Kept us in the game early. Great fwd line pressure and kicked 3 goals. Suspect kick but a fighter and was nice to see him do some work in the middle in the third.
Thomas - Look he can make mistakes and he did tonight but his effort was sensational and when he ran back with the flight just tells you this kid has it. Great 3rd qtr.
Pendlebury - Classy. Nick Dal Santo all over him.
OBrien - best game for the club. Held his own in the first half and whilst not a lot of possies in the second half - he did some things the coach would love. Pressure, decision making, skill into the fwds.
Cloke - This kid is 20 and whilst he leads up well and worked hard tonight he needs to work on kicking and contested situations. Works hard off the ball though.
Richards - one classic tap to Burns but other than that just ordinary for me.
H.Shaw - just really good and hard at it. Very happy.
Swan - real good. He is class. Does not get flustered and actually played 4 qrs.

Not sure how you fit Buckley, Didak, Clement, Holland, Johno in let alone have Lonie, Egan and Rusling knocking on the door.

We only had 1 Dick and 1 Cox in our team for the first time.
On the other hand, Bitchmond had 22 useless Pricks in theirs.

Our first win over these turds since 2004 (the David King goal on final siren, the only thing he'll be remebered for...)

yeah rookies were great. Swan was awesome. Cox a little quiet but did some good things. Umpires were not as bad as in the past 2 weeks. Cloke needs to step up.

allot of players coming back in the next few weeks :)

was sitting with my mate this week (a tiger fan).

Our comeback didn't suprise him, he said it happens almost every week.

If they kicked straight we would have been 40 points down before having a sniff.

Maybe we were tired from the Perth trip but one things for sure Port Adelaide's running side might smash us silly.

Mick Malthouse should be recognised and acknowledged for a supreme coaching performance tonight. The feeling at half time amongst the faithful was nothing short of dispair. Key players stricken by injury and too many holes starting to emerge. 22 points down and very few positive were evident to suggest that the pies would kick more than 4 more goals in the second half. Tigers had tails up and had marked their territory.
Oooops tan boy (Wallace) had a formidable opponent to contend with MM.
MM made some changes to structure ie mids, gave Rocca the size 9 boot and asked him not to wet the bench again and focus on leadership and kicking goals. He is a master coach! His is developing plan b, c and d which is what we have all pined for, and new is putting his faith and restoring our faith in a bright future.
Congratulations MM we are truly appreciative of your stellar performance tonight.
It's gotta be RED! He's gotta be spinning.

i'm very happy

how good were our debutants!

I remember saying at the season launch that Toovey reminded me of McGough........i hope it's just the eyes and that today wasn't just a fluke. I'm really impressed by him!

Tark's is just an awesome force this year.
