Pre-Match - Collingwood vs Tigers
All comments in here.
We'll sneak over the line, I feel. Just unsure about the Tigers and their scrappy running game, which might keep it on their level.
Likely/potential changes:
IN:
Lonie (?)
Cox
DIDAK! (?)
OUT:
Nicholls (omitted), Johnson (ankle?).
Early tip: Pies by 9 points.

Lonie has OP, wont play this week. Go long to rocca one out. Simple game plan and will work against tigers. Hopefully simmonds doesn't come up so richards and fraser can have a field day. I reckon we could see 3-4 changes as the team looked very sore in the rooms after last week.
I reckon tigers by 5 points, just think that will come out firing. Watch out pies this is a danger game!!

I don't think Simmonds will be back, nor Brown. Gaspar should take Pebs I would think, leaving inexperienced McGuane on Trav. This is a big opportunity for him to step up and stamp his dominance. I think our small forwards may have a field day too... which is what they usually do to us. Question is, how many tall forwards do they have? I haven't seen Richmond play this year, haven't seen their forward setup. I think Cox will get a game this week, but will he play as a key defender? He could take Heath's role and we could chuck Heath in the mid and see how he goes. Presti to take Richo, Wakes on Schulz... Clement on Brown if he plays.
Out: Nicholls, Johnson (assuming injured)
In: Cox, Dick! ... hopefully Didak.

Richmond are always a worry. They seem to lift for us.
TEAM CHANGES -
In - Cox
Out - Nicholls
Richmond really do need Simmonds to play to dominate our rucks like he did last year. I presume Nathan Brown won't be playing?? Whoever plays on Chris Newman (leon davis??) and Joel Bowden need to be accountable for their men when Richmond have the ball.
Some possible key match ups?
Licca to mind Tuck.
Rhyce Shaw on Deledio
Wakelin on Shultz
Presti on the girl (Richardson)
If Gaspar is matched up on Rocca, Pebbles could be in for a big night!
Without stating the obvious I believe the below players could be in strife for the Port game if they don't deliver on Friday night.
- Paul Licuria
- Guy Richards
- Rhyce Shaw
- Travis Cloke
I'm tipping a big win for the pies and Licca to fire!
Pies by 76 points!

MM said there might be a few changes this week...
In:
Egan, Cox, Dick
Out:
Nicholls, Lockyer, Licuria
Davis to get a run in the engine room, I would even almost drop Trav for Bryan, have Josh playing FF/CHF, and use Richards and Bryan in the ruck against newbie Pattison.
Potentially Wakelin might be dropped to give Toovey/Brown a chance.

Rumours mean shit till I see his name on their list and on the field!Culprit wrote:My first game for the year and I hope we win. If Richards cannot dominate this game I will be peeved. They are still fast. Rumour has it Nathan Brown to return. This game could go either way and throw in the travel factor.

Simmonds is also likely to miss Friday night's clash with Collingwood.

Facts are that the tigers have had the wood over us for a few years. It's a mental thing, a lot of teams lift when they play us so it's 22 v's 22. They are going to hit us hard and we have to do the same. They are coming off two losses so will be extra keen. We have had a tough one against the coasters and we must be able to resist their first half onslaught and outplay them as Sydney did last week. I say Bring in some hard bodies like Bryan, put fraz on the half fowardline as the his height and mobility will trouble them. Don't risk Jhonno if hes a 50-50 chance but bring in Iles (quick medium size dfender) as they will try and open up their foward line for their small brigade. Danger game for us ......

I'd be surprised if Lonie is back or if Johno gets up. Did's will play at least a week at Willi before coming back.
Nicholls deserves another go even though his first game was a bit average. Bryan is out with a finger so unless Josh is going to Ruck all game, Richards will stay in.
Cox in for Johnson is the only change I see.

Very much a danger game - bunch of no hopers versus a Collingwood team which put in a great performance and yet came up empty handed.
Watch out for Fitzroy syndrome - said no hopers play their one good game for the year against the Magpies and then go back to their losing ways for the rest of the season.
I have also noticed that the Swans tend to play other teams back into form.
