armchair view of the wet toast game

Footy on a saturday afternoon?Now thats a novel idea.


the usual suspects who gather around my place to watch footy sometimes, all decided to gather at the local to watch it on the big screen,but the wife and i decided its much too nice a day to spend indoors so we set up the back yard tv by the bbq and settled in for heritage week at home.under the blue skies and warmth of a WA winter.

To get in the spirit i had the esky full of king browns instead of stubbies,as we always drank the king browns in the good old days..

so on to the game,
what tricks has MM got up his sleeve this week?

he has been devoid of ideas for weeks.

Lika is out and davies comes in his stead.

on the pine are Holland,Burns,Pendlebury and tarks.

Dont know who won the toss but we kicked towards my esky in the first qtr.

Ahh MM has a trick to show us after all,Rocca is the ruckman.

Soon find out thats not true,Ant has no idea,hes as useless as that blow up sheep i saw at the sexpo here in perth earlier this year.

I think he spent all his energy pre game.

EEgs slots our first goal from 50 on the run to even the score after seaby got one for them on Ant.

At last after 6 minutes Rocca is sacked as a ruckman,and Josh takes up the mantle,we start to win clearances and the big difference i notice is joshs second efforts compared to ant no efforts..

Ant not to be left out drops 3 marks at FF then is outmarked by glass in the square
Wet toast get 2 goals after lonie errors,he was a bit stiff both times.

Brodie goals after getting a 50 from the scump and we go in 3.3 to 5.5 down
the worst starting team in the comp has us down at qtr time.

Im not amused as i open my 3rd king brown.

Well MM must have another idea somewhere deep inside his mind to change this around?
lets try Bucks as a fwd he says.that worked once before.
And it does again as 30 secs in he goals from the pocket.the Josh slots one from the boundary and its a 4 pt game.
Davies and Ant mark together after bucks kicked back to the hot spot,davies wouldnt let ant have it,and the ump agreed,davies nailed his first goal in the big time and we hit the cows.
Wet toast have the yips in front of goal,i think the spirit of gordon coventry was working against them at his end.
MM has another brainwave that works,he drags ant.
Bucks sets up taz for a goal,then swan passes to taz but he fluffs it.
Ant comes back on and into the ruck,wet toast goal from the clearance.
Its tough footy,tackles galore,and we dont shirk anything this week.
Kerr stands on burns head to take a specky and goals,ant is again benched and josh goals not long later.
I get the feeling it wouldnt hurt us if ant went home now.
obree kicks a goal on his left and a minute later gets one on his right and at the half we lead 10.7 to 8.8

time to put the kebabs on the hotplate and just for fun i throw a wet bit of bread on as well,we will all burn wet toast today i cry.

back to the game,Wakes day is over,he has another soft tissue injury ,i doubt he will line up next year,the bodys not up to it any more.
the toast are also down a man as hunter has done his knee.

wet toast goal then cheesy marks,passes to ant who mucks it up as usual,but cheesy goes in and kicks the goal himself.
Bucks and daks both miss easy shots
chad is having his own little competition to see if he can break his record for clangers,even passes to a scump instead of our bloke one time.
Lockyer does a handball without the hand and wet toast goal from the error and its back to a 7 pt game. we cant shake this mob.
Burns has a superb tough effort,gets it to taz for his 3rd then eegs goals from 50 but the ump doesnt allow it,ball comes back to swan who this time passes to ant,no score siren goes 12.11 to 10.11

wet toast have come from nowhere so often lately im nervously into my 7 th browny and not sure how it will transpire.

30 secs into the last qtr bucks sets taz up and he goals,thats handy .

then daks roves a pack and after ant drops the mark,crumbs it and goals,thats handier.

Then Taz slots one from 50 and we go 20 up!! is it tata toasters?
not yet,they goal from the next clearance and my nerves are on edge.

kerr and his mate line up didak,but miss and knock each other out,then bucks dobs one from 50 and we go back to 29 up,but im still nervous.
they goal again after chad achieved his clanger record
9 mins to go,4 goals up? im still nervous.
swan goals after a great intercept,you beauty!!!!!!!!!! wet toast goal from the next bounce...groan!!!

TC stands tall and stops them getting another quick goal,then the little tank engine gets me to my feet shouting as he nails one and we go 5 goals up with 5 mins to play.
joffa dons the gold jacket..........is it over?
should have been as daks gets a 50 and is led to the goals by the scump,but ant tops off his horror day by falling for the oldest trick in the book and its no goal and a wet toast free

ant then marks a ball and proudly shows it to us all as if to say
is this the thing ive been trying to get hold of all day?
at last he has it,yes its game over

now i can relax 19.13 to 13.12.......37 point win to the pies.

A fitting moment after the game was when all the players kicked balls into the crowd
Chad took his to the fence and handed it to someone
obviously knowing full well that if he had kicked or handballed it,it probably wouldnt have cleared the fence

great team effort ,but ant,chad and lonie were no good.
