pies beat the paupers, how it looked from my armchair.

Post by Ed from WA »

Its easter monday, only one game on and its the pies v the paupers.

Ive been on antibiotics and been dry for a month and luckily finished the course on sunday so i have an esky full of the good oil at the ready.
I dont know if im looking fwd more to the grog or the game.

Bucks wins the toss and points towards my esky,so i take his hint and grab one.Im back in business

Im not worried about the stripes clash but surely common sense says that at least they should wear white or black shorts?
Time to scarp the coloured shorts and go back to tradition.
both wearing dark shorts is just a tad silly.??

Ok we are off,Clement gets pinged for something or other that i couldnt work out, either could he and while he was debating it with the green shirted mug the roos goaled.
Booooooooooooo says the mob.
i very quickly go to the esky, then for about 10 minutes the most wasteful fwd set up in AFL history does its usual until Taz goals after 12 minutes of domination but no result.then lockyer drills one thru from the boundary chalk ,then a moment i really didnt like much.

Bucks did what can only be described as a reverse twisting matty lloyd with pike ,the judges awarded a 10,bucks got the worlds softest free and a goal.

Harry is doing well,Likas still off the boil,TC is struggling, its a game we should have by the scruff but go to the break only a goal up.
21-15

Its all roos early on in the 2nd term, but they squander chances.
Our back half is working hard, and our defensive pressure from our fwds is as good as ive seen it for a few years.
Promising signs.

Leon tries a daicos special but just fails, then follows up with a running goal from a taz hand ball.
daks marks in the pocket, misses evrything then butters up with a goal from another taz hand ball.
3 Quick goals to the rocca we didnt want and the games all square again.
Ant marks, passes to brodie and we hit the cows again.
Ant again features in our next goal, his pressure on the backman caused the mistake that saw the tank engine set Taz up for another sausage roll
The is every where. He marks, gets a whack in the mush,No 50.
i think North are gone already,as i grab my next stubby,\
Its the pressure we are applying on them that has them beat.
they are a rabble
taz goals again,no yips in sight.
Ant goals on the siren and we go in for the long break 59-34

My notes at half time say that maybe the modern game has become too quick for Lika ?TC is having a shocker,Why is Lockyer out there?Has Johnno ever kicked worse?
So we are going ok but have still a few deficiencies.

Ok into the second half,im already getting piddly, but enjoying it.

Racing to win wins the doncaster, isnt it great that the battlers win the big ones?
The jock turned up at the track in his own chopper.

Johnno kicks yet another hit and hoper to start the second half, but the fwds battle it out well and Lonie snags one on the end of an Ant handball.
Taz gets a free,i get the feeling hay is a dud.
Its one of those things about modern footy.
there are quite a few duds becoming millionaires at various clubs, hay is one of them.
Leon is on the end of evrey thing today.
What a difference taz makes to us when he is fit and running!!!
The defensive pressure we apply has broken the roos spirit, the large woman has gargled, donned a gold jacket and is already singing the Roy Orbison hit.
ITS OVER,ITS OVER<ITS OOOOOOOOOVEEEER.!
Lika is a worry tho,he misses a shot altogether from 10 out,but Josh taps to daks from the throw in and we goal again anyway.
Heath Shaw has been quiet all day but he takes a strong mark and goals to join in the fun.
The tank engine has a couple of bounces, shows poise beyond his years and bananas a pass to TAz for his 5th
Its just too easy,as Josh just ambles in and goals again.
sav goals from 70 on the siren as the roos get a wee bit of joy.
108-54 up at the orange break.

All good funerals finish with a burial.and so it was that the pies finished off the job with a flourish.
It was a cakewalk just as in the song.
not much can be taken from the last qtr where we slammed on another heap of goals to bury the dead roos, they were road kill.
leon even found time to tell us there was a wicket at the cricket as he ran back to the guts after kicking his 3rd sausage.

It was good to see us deliver the KO and keep at it.

minor worries were the form of TC,Lika,Tarks.and johnnos disposal.

have we got players to take their spots?
do we stick to the current squad?

My votes?
3 Tarrant
2 Swan
1 maxwell
special mentions cheesy,leon,daks clement.
