Williamstown Players in Under 22 Representative Team

Post by Dale61 »

Despite Brad Lloyd not selected in the Victorian state side due to a calf injury, the Williamstown Football Club is pleased to have 4 players selected in the North squad for the under 22 curtain raiser match.

Jackson Barling, Dean Galea, Heath Lawry and Scott Meyer will all represent the North squad on Saturday morning.

For Heath Lawry and Dean Galea, selection is reward for hard work and commitment. Heath came to Williamstown from Queensland. After spending the whole of the 2003 season in the reserves, Heath finally broke into the senior side in 2004, playing 9 games. He has been a senior regular this year, kicking 2 goals in the opening 6 games.

Dean Galea was overlooked by Werribee in 2004 by not being offered a spot on their list after undertaking preseason training. Dean went back to Spotswood in the WRFL and a sensational season saw him win the WRFL Best and Fairest and leading goalkicker awards. Dean played the first 5 games in the reserves before breaking into the senior side in round 6 where he was an important contributer in the win against Bendigo.

Scott Meyer has dominated the ruck in the reseves, whilst Jackson Barling is a key position forward or back who made his senior debut against Werribee and managed 2 games before missing a further 2 games through injury.

The VFL clash with the SANFL will begin at 1:10pm and will be telvised live on ABC TV from 1:00pm. The North vs South Under 22 game will begin at 10:00am. Adults $10, Children $5 and children under 15 are free.
