Baseball World Series finalists decided

Post by labrooy »

After a fantastic ALCS and NLCS the World Series contenders have been decided with the Florida Marlins and the New York Yankees commencing at Yankee Stadium on Sunday (AEST). Both the League championship series went to the seventh game with hard luck stories to the losers. The Chicago Cubs let 3-2 in their series and 3-0 at the bottom of the seventh innings before a fan prevented a catch from being taken to make it 2 out at the top of the eighth innings. Florida went on to score 8 runs in that innings to make it 3 all and then win the deciding 7th game.

The Yankees trailed 5-2 at the top of the eighth in the deciding game 7 before tying with three runs at the bottom of the eighth and winning on a solo home run in the 11th innings.

The finals should be a top affair with the overall strength of the Marlins taking on the dogged determination of the Yankees. For the record I am tipping the Yankees to win 4-2

Two great games. Marlins won the first but the Yankees came back to win the second 6-1. So far the Yankees seem to be the better team but now they head to Miami for games 3-5.

Yankees win game 3.

In the pouring rain the Yankees win 6-1 on the back of a solo home run by Aaron Boone and a three run homer by Bernie Williams in the ninth innings.

Game 4 commences tomorrow.

The Marlins have done well. With the Yankees winning games 2 and 3 6-1 it looked like an easy series for them. However these two wins puts them in the drivers seat for games 6 and 7 at Yankee Stadium.
