Kim Clijsters displaced Serena Williams on top of the women's tennis rankings when she beat Lindsay Davenport (6-1 3-6 6-1) at the WTA event in Los Angeles.
In the best season of her career and has 66-8 win-loss record and has won 6 titles.
Clijsters now has a great chance of success in the upcoming US Open and her main rival seems to be fellow countrywoman, Justine Henin-Hardine.
Williams is expected to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks and will not defend her US Open title.
