Yes, I was one who wanted Shaw dropped. Yes, in hindsight I was wrong. But here is the thing people.
If you are going to play Shaw in the team, and there is a clear role for him, USE HIM. If you are going to let him rest on the pine all day, DROP HIM.
This talk of "one week people want him dropped, the next week they want him on the ground" is fair enough to a point. But you have to do one thing or the other.
Also I reckon criticism of Lokan is very harsh, he has been tough and not stopped trying in difficult conditions and shows more promise in the forward line than a few of his higher rated team mates.

Add to that...Lone Ranger wrote: Think about what is coming through:

Zane Leonard (who looked good in the P/S)
IN a few years (2005/2006) we will be a St.Kilda. Brimming with youngsters and flying. But we may still also have Burnsy and Bucks to help take them through.

Add Luke Shackleton.
This morning's "Hun" has an article (p89 but I can't find a web link to post) about Luke, saying he's likely to make his debut over the next few weeks.
The article praises his marking strength, speed, agessiveness and love of body contact and also says he's been loved by his coaches at all levels. For a 2003 draft pick, it sounds like he's come on very well.
A very promising type.

Aww, Cam, the guy's been playing well. 24 poss playing in the middle against Ballarat and was named in our best. Also named among our best against Bendigo on the weekend.
Anyway, I've just posted the same info as in my previous post on the "Love Shack" and saw a post by Milleys reporting that MM said Julian Rowe is also coming under consideration as well. Good news. He's slightly built, but faster than a bullet train!
I'm looking forward to them both making their debuts in coming weeks.

I spose the most important think about Shack is that they have to play him, simply, they have to. Like Nixon, C.Cloke, Shack and Maxwell....they have to play them to see if they have anything.
History has it that you release a player and more than likely they pop up elsewhere and hurt you, be it an AFL or VFL list, its the old Catch 22. I don't think Nixon has been given the run, he's played a few games but played 95% of the game on the bench. Maxwell seems to have a bit of nouse about him, unlike his elder statesmen in Wakes, he punches from behind and not try to take hanger of the year.
As for Shacks, he has to be given a run, see what he's got, see if he's upto it, if he can find the ball......only query would be if we could take him and McGough in the same team....both similar builds, play in an under, and both bordering on the side of slow. That said, would rather have Shacks and MCG in the team (both hard and in and under players) more than having a receiver like O'Bree rushed back into the team, give him a couple of weeks with Willi like they did the Presti man

Nath, we picked up Shack in the 2002 Draft - 29th pick.
We've seen Lokan (70th pick in that draft) play every game since being drafted but that's because he played Seniors in SA, so was relatively battle-hardened, and Cam Cloke (43rd pick) come into the side this year and perform at a level which makes him an automatic selection.
I agree that it's time Shacks was given a chance to show whether he's got what it takes to grab and cement a place in the Seniors.
Obviously, his form at Willi warrants him getting some serious game time. However, he is not a slow player. He is built like a brick sh*thouse but can run (and take a big leap). The query to date has been his endurance but he could develop that just as the seniors returning from injury have been given time to do so.
I'm keen to see how he goes.
