I think Stringer could be the Stevie J equivalent and we know what happened when we knocked him back.
Would Stevie have been as good as he became if he went to another club ?
Could Stringer mature enough to realise his full talent ?

Problem is as pointed out, dogs will want too much esp given he could turn into the gun he has shown signs of becoming.

The Stevie J comparison may be a good one, but I don't think it was character that left us not pulling the trigger... wasn't it something in our club Doctors medical report? Granted the ankle injury occurred jumping off a roof when inebriated and shouldn't have been....

But yes, that's certainly one you'd take a mulligan on in hindsight.

With Boyd now on staff, I would trust that if the Pies are interested, we will be relying heavily on his input to make any decision.

I think however, that the Dogs will want more than we have to offer... Will likely end up being a 2nd rounder which we don't have. If we could get him for pick 36 in a straight swap, I would take the punt. That's about as high as I'd go though.

We don't know how damaged though. A rumour says part of the reason for him leaving is relationship with another player. That's not something that would carry over to another club.

I'd be very surprised if the Dogs trade him for less than a first round pick. If they do then you know his issues are serious.

His relationship with his missus broke up, that's common knowledge, and he has 2 kids. That would mess with your head enough without the rumours (which he has publicly denied) that a team mate had a part in the breakup.

His last decent game was in 2015. This isn't a guy getting ready to explode. This is a guy who has lost his way and may never get his mojo back.

His issues are not just related to his broken relationship. Continually turning up to training late or not turning up at all. Disruptive influence on team mates and his activities away from the football club. The Bulldogs have intimated how serious his issues are without breaking confidentiality/ privacy. Buyer beware

Sounds like the lad has some <other> problems. When your entire world is out of control (family, work, friends, etc.), there is usually clouds of dust involved.

A shame really, because if it was just a Wayne Carey/Anthony Stevens type issue, I would be all for grabbing this guy as I think he is EXACTLY the type of player our forward line needs (especially in this age of versatility).

If his problems run deeper and relate more to substance (abuse), I agree that we should pass on this guy.

Yes, we passed on him after his medical with us had concerns with the ankle. Cats were looking to trade him given his behaviours. I think the shock of it all is what settled him down in the end and probably helped turn him into the player he became. Still, I wouldn't have given a first round pick for him or stringer...

I would trade Pendles and Elliott to get a key brilliant tough forward like Jake. Both those players are ready to move on and would still command a good trade deal. Let's make it happen before someone else gets him.
