I think they use Champion Data, not sure about Pro-Stats, and not sure which one is right either.
Actually, the funny thing is, looking at ProStats. Not only DOESNT Hawthorn have 2 in the top 6, they dont even have 2 in the top 20.
Seems a bit suspect that only Collingwood, St Kilda and Carlton have 2 players inside the top 20 for clearances.
Collingwood has 4 in the top 25, Geelong has 1.
Weird.
EDIT: hahaha according to Pro-Stats...now this is classic given some threads on here lately....our "rubbish midfield" is #1 in the comp for clearances. hahah.
although i should point out that our closest rivals (not Geelong and Hawthorn who we are actually killing) the Bulldogs and West Coast havent played yet. But we ranked 3rd in Clearances per game.

ABSULTUELY SPOT-ON. After the game, I said to my mate, "You know what, this may be the first time I'm going to go home after a win and NOT want to watch the replay." When I got home, I couldn't help myself, and watched it. It did look OK, and even the commentators were like, "What a great game." But sitting behind the goals, watching play unfold, watching us miss every freakin' target on the night, I made sure the replay didn't cloud my earlier judgement - we were ordinaty, and lucky to hold on.favourites 2008 wrote:As funny as it sounds it's true, after the game i was happy but thought we could've played heaps better but watching the reply when i got home i was like wow!DaVe86 wrote: We were far from our best. It also helps that you know you've won, and you know that a few turnovers that could've cost goals, turned into oppostion points, or turnovers. At the time, it's hair-pulling frustration.

I agree with Snoop, he's had an appalling year.Podpicken wrote:Cloke a 1 out of 10 Snoop? I reckon you're a great judge, mate but boy that's tough. Know he didn't have a good night, but he was well beaten by Blake who I thought stuck to him like glue and Clokey simply couldn't break the shackles. Cloke had 10 possessions and took 4 marks and I thought tried hard. Not a good game, but a rating more worthy of 3 or 4 out of 10.

Bloody wrapped ! I love fixin up those pathetic window dressers of a football club. Scotty Burns was brillant his first goal made us stand up and fight . Very happy with Bryan's attack, Leon's inspirational run , Wellingham, Thomas, R.Shaw, Medhurst and Didak! Swanny never stopped all night. We will have to be even harder next week though. But jesus I was wrapped!

Brilliant post, Zakal. Reading various opinions on O'Bree on this board, I was not sure whether he was part of the problem or helping hold us together. I was inclined to the former view, but the facts clear that right up. I hope O'B now gets a rest from the keyboard warriors for a while.Zakal wrote:CamGivesMeWood wrote: You have to be joking about O'Bree and Bryan. If Cheesy could kick a stab pass 40m everyone would think he was in our best four or five. As it is, he kicks loopy helicopters which more often than not get where he meant them to, and he's lambasted week in and week out. He wins the hard ball, he's creative with his hands, and he tackles consistently. He's played 200 games for a reason and he'll be required next year.
What amazes me, is that people continue to bag OBree and sook about our pathetic clearance work.
Guess who is 2nd in the competition (with all the good teams having played already, Dogs excepting) for most clearances? Thats right, Breesy.
44 - Hayes
42 - Obree
41 - Cox and Mitchell
40 - Sewell (which pretty much highlights Hawthorns brilliance right there...2 players in the top 5).
He's also club leader and 6th in the comp for contested possessions and 2nd in tackles, He does the grunt work, and is still everyones whipping boy.
And dont say "oh but he turns it over half the time" because he isnt in our top 6 worst turnover offenders either. But Didak, Cloke, Heater and Leon all are.
Also 4th in Goal Assists.
He might not be a centre-square megastar, but great teams are made of blue-collar stats like these.
Two more flags before I die!
Nup. I think you'll find that he needs to put in a couple of seasons of his best footy before the majority will get off his back. Then it will only be grudgingly - lots of stuff about him having to repay the faith so it's about time, etc, etc...Mugwump wrote: Brilliant post, Zakal. Even if he does all that, you'll still get the occasional drone swinging by afterwards who got used to joining in the chorus and still enjoys getting stuck in - those still calling for Tarks to be delisted this year are a case in point.
I once likened it to schoolyard bullying - the pattern at least. Having seen both sides of it, it sticks out like dogs'. Fair enough too - it's where we learned our social structure stuff and it's where many stopped developing in that regard.
Anyways... any respite he gets thereafter will be only short lived, because let's face it, I can't see him holding up for too many more years of his style footy in this competition. The mighty warriors will then exercise their virtuous right to their opinions, gleefully joining in packs to cut this man down.
Sad, but such is the life of the whipping boy.
In the meantime, those who support him or those who judge him subjectively get the enjoyment of watching him perform. Just like with the rest of life, those who see through such eyes tend to reap the more satisfying rewards.
