More then happy with ins and outs this week considering injuries and form.I would reckon its just about time to give the Lonestar one more crack at the big time.Just think when hes on song he gives us that extra dimension when he is on the run can unload on goal from 50 plus.Still with St Kildas injuries woes we really should get over the line.Hope Bryan has a big one you could see how much he loves playing for the Pies in the final against the Wet Toast las tyear. All in all go you Pies!!!!!

Totally surprised as well. Altough I spose he is still a kid & it is a long season. I guess we shouldn't be surprised with Goldy playing VFL last week. I really think we don't need Goldy & Maxy in the same side as defenders. Unfortunately for Goldy Maxwell is a favourite.

Personally I think Goldy is one of our toughest players & I would be keen to see him on the ball & develop into a midfielder. One that actually can get a hardball get.

Great to see Welly back.

Also saw Mick put all players on notice, that they are running out of chances. If we lose (& we bl00dy better not) then there will be mass changes next week.
I would have dropped Harry O'Brien or Maxwell and kept Goldsack.

Exactly Paulie - Big Chris will play with his big heart and again be a significant contributor in a significant win for Follingwood FC.
Don't know about Lonie though - but it is up to him to force his way in. The opportunity is there for him to be a leader in that back line if he can use the VFL to put his body on the line and realise he isnt going to get hurt by going in hard.

If we don't beat this mob by more than 5 goals, I'll eat my hat!

really happy to see Wellingham and Bryan back in the side. We've been sadly lacking in toughness around the contest the last couple of weeks and Bryan will help with that, while Wellingham provides that run and class delivery.
Sad to see Goldy out but hopefully he'll find his 2007 form in the VFL and come back on fire.

Everyone thinks we will win, even saiters. So if we dont win then its season over, we will be written off.

on that note i will confidently back us.

lets hope we see some more attacking roll the dice football that people loved watching.

Good to see Bryan in ! Rocca must fire tonight - no excuses! Wellingham is a handy inclusion. I think Goldsack was stiff, would have dropped Maxy!

I'd say it's about time Mick started to get heavy on a few players who have been out of form - but dropping Goldsack? I think Harry has been playing worse, as far as I'm concerned. Going back on earlier games this year he has given away free kicks like bloody lollypops. Sure he had a great run last year against players like Lucas but that was last year. His form has been off, simple. So has Maxwell's, Thomas's and I could name a few others. Our midfield has been shocking lately. Yeah I'd give Lonie another chance, stick him on a wing and tell him to bloody go in for his own ball or he'll be traded! I like Bryan and Wellingham as ins; not so sure about Rocca. If he can pull a bag out for once, and prove his ankle? is on the mend, then great. Otherwise I'd have to go with Medders up forward like on Anzac Day. Another one who has been quiet is Dane Swan. I think the Pies need a serious shake up, and from the look on Mick's face on the tv the other night, at training, I think they're about to get one. Well, I hope so, anyway. BTW, what's wrong with Anthony (Jack, not Rocca). Why hasn't he got another game?!

Saints are tall with King, Gardiner, Gherig and Kosi all in the side. Bryan was a must to come in considering Fraser is out.

The inform saints player at the moment is Lenny Hayes. Cant see how we are going to stop him. Thought Cook may have been a decent matchup but he is out. Perhaps someone like O'Bree will have to go tough on him and try and get first hands on it around the clearances. Lenny is not entirely damaging around the ground...mostly chipping. He is most dangerous around the clearances. Not a big goal kicker either. O'Bree head to head may be the only way to go. Our lack of a tagger is worrying.

Then Scott Burns head to head with Luke Ball. Saints rely on these 2 to dominate the clearances. Putting our best 2 clearance players onto them should neutralise them.

Then Marty Clarke on Leigh Montagna and to work off him. We realistically need a designated tagger on this guy, because he is more damaging, but his defensive skills are poor and someone with Marty's pace should work off him well.

Bryan/Wood will have their hands full with King/Gardiner. But we definitely win out in the mobility stakes. Bryan and Wood can push forward with more effect than the Saints duo. However winning hitouts is a big worry. They can also throw Kosi in, but i think he will play forward in the absense of Riewoldt.

The 2 that worry me are Charlie Gardiner and Milne. Probably Wakelin and Harry get these guys. Or Harry onto Gardiner and Ben Johnson onto Milne and to expose him with some dash out of defence.

Nathan Brown to get Gherig. Will cover him pace wise and the strength battle would be enthralling. Wakelin to be the backup option here.

Would not be allowing Jason Gram too much leeway either. He is their only real player out of defence who takes it on. Goddard and Fisher are the other 2 who play loose across half back.

Although they are not really damaging and pick up mostly loosey's, i think they can be exploited if we can get a matchup onto them. Fisher will most likely get Trav considering Maguire is out...but Goddard is hopeless one on one, and Gram is taggable. Might be a good case to get Maxwell forward onto Goddard and try and outmark him.

Without Baker, Leigh Fisher will most likely go onto Didak. They have no matchup for Leon Davis...if we get lucky Jason Gram may be used in this role. But most likely Sean Dempster will go to him. Think Leon is too quick and smart for Dempster.

It seems a very weak defence for the Saints. Hudgton will account for Rocca....but Goddard, Gram, Dempster, Leigh Fisher and Sam Fisher is too slow and unaccountable to account for Medhurst, Leon and Didak. I'd be tipping 3 goals minimum from each if we can move the ball to them quickly.

I would be starting our most damaging forward line up forward. Do not want to see Leon or Didak in the opening centre bounce. Put our talent up forward and rely on Burns and O'bree and Pendles to get it out. With Rocca now there to provide a contest, we should get a few crumbing goals and many more spillages as opposed to uncontested marks.

That is where we can beat the Saints comfortably.

The worry is obviously their talent through the middle. Dal Santo is out of form....but if we fail to put a tagger onto him then he will be very damaging. Again I wish Cook was in as a possible matchup.

To be honest, considering Dale Thomas' form, i'd love to see him go onto Dal Santo and try to emulate Kane Corne's job on him a few weeks ago. Play him tight, then run off him hard. Dal does not chase at all.

The Dome is our other worry...how do we play it considering we havent played there in a while and the Saints use it as their home ground. I think we will adapt quite nicely. I've always thought we play alright at the Dome because guys like Didak and Davis get the best conditions to show their stuff.
There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.

Last chance for three players tonight: Dale Thomas, Nick Maxwell and Harry O'Brien. If they don't fire they need a spell in the twos. This may do Daisy's head-case a lot of good.

I hope Bryan works out. Rocca should free up Medhurst and Davis to play blinders. :D

Re-watched the Hawthorn game this morning.

Three things stood out like Rover's cocunuts:
1. Harry O smashed Rioli - WILL get Milne.
2. Goldy was poor on Williams in the main, and turned it over.
3. Daisy was solid - needs support and confidence

Worried about Travis maybe missing - and looking forward to the contest.

Worried about Hayes/Ball/Armitage out to DalSanto/Montagna. Lucky they have no one to kick it too.

im not confident. I think this is another of those "should win" games that we will play terribly in.

Hope im wrong though.
