Brad Scott writing on the Collingwood website:
'Scotty Burns will play this week, and he's dying to get out there. When the captain of the club becomes available to play and he's got enough match fitness, we don't hesitate in bringing him straight back in. He's an automatic inclusion.'
So Scotty's an automatic inclusion now
In Burns Johnson
Out Rusling Clarke

I cannot decide who I would drop for Burns. I think Reid deserves to come in for Rusling, and our forward line always looks better with the third tall. But for Burns, against Brisbane, I think we should drop one of our softer players. One of Rhyce or Egan. We need hard bodies who won't shirk a contest. I know that both of these guys played very well on the weekend, but I can't see anyone else making way, unless it's going to be a defender.
TAG TAG TAG TAG the hell out of Black. That is all.

The Eagles game showed the weakness of the Lions. Slow the midfield, put pressure on the ball carrier and they struggle. Relax that one bit and they will hit you hard as they thrive on good delivery from the mids. Eagles relaxed and luckily they opened up a big enough break to cover the Lions run.
Their backline is stretched and pretty unstable. Problem is ours is in a similar situation. The game will be won in the middle. And I personally believe our midfield is quicker.

All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Playing 3 rucks is not the answer. Leunberger is still very raw, and although he is a star, Wood can handle him. Charman is an issue...but Bryan is not the answer.
Bryan as i said in another post should only be used as a backup or to come in if Josh needs a rest. I'd be saving him for that because he can have immediate impact.
Johnson should not be a walkup start either, but it should not take him long to break in.

What's this fixation on having to play HARD BODIES vs Brisbane? It's not the Lions of '03. THey have the Black, Power, Johnstone, Lappin and kids as their runners. We need run.
I'm no R.Shaw fan ... but I watched the replay, and he seemed to hit most targets to me (although he still skates on ice - how many times does h go to ground?). Also Egan, he hit his targets, too. And I don't think he's much of a kick. But Egan is a good HFF, he bobs up in one quarter and can have 4 to 6 shots on goal. Before 2007's injury, he'd kick 2.3 and 2.4 whenever playing up forward, meaning he finds the pill near goal.
Having been to the Gabba last year, the ground is smaller than you might expect on TV. The run comes through the CENTRE SQUARE, which is why we need runners.
OUT: Rusling, ???
IN: Burns, Johnson

Rus out, Burns in.
Simple as that.
Although I'd like to see Reid get a game, I can't see us dropping anyone from last week and both Josh and Wood can float down forward to provide another marking option if it's needed. With Burns as an extra midfielder in our side we will run the Bears off their feet.

IMHO Henderson, Brown, Bradshaw puts the balance of key defenders vs forwards well and truly in their favour, especially if one of their rucks drops back and / or Brennan goes to town on us again.
Once again Harry will have to play above his height along with Maxy not able to be the utility he has been but a key defender. How we use Goldie will be interesting too.

The AFL site is flipping pathetic. Channel 10 have broadcast our changes, why can't the AFL site get them listed here:

ATM (5.53PM Melbourne time) our team is about the only one missing.
