All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

agree 100% if Bryan just plods around the ground doing SFA and is ineffective in the hitouts, i would much rather see Shannon Cox back in to just compete and work hard around the ground like last weekTannin wrote:Chris Bryan, this is the match to hang your career on: you can cement your place with Collingwood this day, or start your progress towards a career in the VFL/SANFL/WAFL. Up to you.

We can load up tall or small, so once we work out their backlines weakness on the G, we can just change it up, just hope we kick more accurate.
I think this could go either way, geelong are very similar team to us, they have alot of the same structure, their weakness is without a doubt getting the ball out clean from defense, if we can curve that we will win by 5-6 goals.

Good side, although I can't quite fathom Bryan's inclusion over Richards... oh well. Rocca for Reid is no surprise, and I guess Cox would have been lucky to stay in after last week.
Notice one R.Cook in the emergencies. Seems like he's close to getting a call-up.

Our best side of the year? No Presti AND Clement does not equal best side of the year.RudeBoy wrote:I think this is one game we're going to win easily. I feel a thrashing coming on. Good ins, with the grunt of rocca and Bryan. Pity about Cox, but I think Reid needs to work on his kicking before he gets another go. Our best side for the year I reckon so bring it on.
Also, why are people saying, "How are we gonna fit the likes of Lonie, Holland, etc... into the team?"? What, so we field the same group of players that failed for the past 5 years?
Give me the new breed any day.

it feels to me like we've just restored the natural order, i.e. gone back to the same setup as before the saints game. josh + another ruck and rocca in for reid. i think we just went with our shortest/smallest line-up for the year against the saints.Tannin wrote:Interesting: we have gone for height and strength, unavoidably at the expense of pace. It was an either/or, so I hope we have made the right decision. (Not criticising: on Saturday night we will be either saying "Malthouse is a genius, we were just too big and strong for them" or "Malthouse is a fool, we let them run over us". No way to tell which yet, just have to wait and see.
I know most people will howl me down for saying this, but I actually think we're possibly (possibly I said) a better team without Presti. Wakelin has covered Presti's absense with flying colours and is a more attacking type player. I'm not denying that Presti is the best defensive/negator in the game, but I think in his current form, Wakes' game is actually benefiting our side more. Throw in Harry and Moneybags, and our defensive unit is all-round much more attacking. Despite missing Clement and Rhyce, I rate this week's side as the best (on paper) we've had all year.DaicosMagic wrote:Our best side of the year?
