Player Analysis:
Chris Bryan - making a huge difference to the team and just mixes it up. As Mick said, he takes no prisinors.
Scott Burns - another 26 touches, doesnt get any recognition and was his usual self, just another week at work for Burnsy.
James Clement - i believe hes carrying an injury. Didnt play the last half of the last quarter but still did his characteristic stuff in the back half.
Travis Cloke - hes becoming more and more consistent. Ran the All Australian backman Bassett around and took about 6 marks on him. Ive said it a number of times. When his stats turn from 2goals 3behinds to 4.1 he will be a very very good player for us.
Shannon Cox - Had the job on a few bigger bodies, not ideal for him, wasnt bad but wasnt good.
Leon Davis - really stepped it up in the third. 22 touches, solid game, just need him to get some numbers in the goals column.
Brad Dick - Just couldnt get a clean possession. Has to learn to create a bit of space for himself.
Chris Egan - Wasnt bad but wasnt good. He needs to do more to keep his spot.
Josh Fraser - One of his better games this year.21 touches and while in the ruck he was basically playing on the wing and ran Hudson off his legs. Good support from Bryan.
Ben Johnson - 25 touches but still wasnt his damaging self. Seemed to be going half paced and still can really improve.
Tarkyn Lockyer - Was supurb and his skills make him such an effective player for us. Best on for mine. Made himself dangerous by going forward.
Nick Maxwell - tried hard and did the one percenters. Solid from Nick.
Shane O'Bree - Didnt rack them up but was very clean and effective. Wasnt bad at all.
Harry O'Brien - Excellent again and shut down his opponent, cleared the ball a number of times, if he wasnt up he was mopping up on the ground. Well done Harry.
Scott Pendlebury - Didnt get as much as he has been but his effectivness was impressive. Smart footy player.
Simon Prestigiacomo - Similar to Jimmie Clement. Had an injury but battled on.
Anthony Rocca - Didnt kick a goal and was down on his usual output but still provided a contest and got the ball to ground.
Heath Shaw - Had a couple snagged on him, but he will learn from that. Still had 26 touches and controlled the back half.
Rhyce Shaw - In brilliant form, providing much needed run off the half back line, leading the side and the combination of the Shaws at half back is becoming pretty formidable.
Dane Swan - 32 touches, played a good link up game, yet still wasnt at his best. Good signs considering he still got that much of the pill.
Dale Thomas - His flare just makes him standout with his run, courage and skill. Was down on usuall output but still very dangerous.
Alan Toovey - Tagging Goodwin was a good learning curve however Goodwin got a few touches on him. Moved to Burton and beat him well. He will keep learning by playing on these types of players.

bloody beautiful.just watched the replay and the way the shaws, the kids and then the older wiser heads all combined to beat the crow flood was superb.pendles looks to have the rising star award wrapped up after round 6,r.shaw was best afield followed by tarks, and with a few to come back from injury and suspension,we look really good.the first 6 games was where i thought we would struggle and be behind the pack, but being top 4 is brilliant.
go tazza baby, kick sheehan where the sun don't shine

well said was sitting in members behind collingwood race (was on tv too) the frees paid to us were there and even on the replay the infringemets were obviously there and they still complained they are jokes. One thing I think needs to happen is, the crows fans need to learn the rules. They have NFI.

Christ... Moron Park... Rex Hunt was right on the money when he labelled that joint. What a festive breeding ground for brain-dead red-neck, wheelie bin kicking ferals.~Madness~ wrote:One thing I think needs to happen is, the crows fans need to learn the rules. They have NFI.
This was seriously the first game since the 1990 GF where i couldn't pick one umpiring error either way!
Plaudits to the team and to Leon Davis whose work ethic steadied the ship when we were challenged in third quarter. All his disposals were damaging, and more importantly found their targets.
Any player carrying a niggling injury should take this week off against Carlton, no need to jeopardise their longevity at this stage of season, the depth is finally there to cover it. We have bigger fish to fry ahead.
Don't be surprised if it takes us until 3/4 time to shake these bastards next week - am i correct in recalling they lead us at 1/2 time in both games last year, before we over-ran them?

Don't underestimate Dick. He is our only FRONT & SQUARE player. 3 times in the first half he crumbed front & square to perfection (back to the footy, eyes on his forwards). That is also how he kicked his first league goal vs Richmond. He will get better with experience and size, but I am excited at the prospect.
Don't be fooled by Didak, Leon Davis, etc. as being CRUMBING forwards. They are not pure FRONT & SQUARE players (they lead, fly for marks, etc.) Dick is a PURE front & square player, something we have lacked since the early 1990s.
He may not retain his place for many more weeks, but he has a dip and knows how to CRUMB. He knows his role.

These are great days for the real collingwood supporter those who believed that this club was on the right track with its youth recruiting, these are great days for the real collingwood supporter who didnt come home after a loss and bag the crap out of coach player and or admin, these are great days and moments for the real collingwood supporter who showed faith loyality and the belief things would improve...stop the bandwagon please..we're only gonna pick up the real collingwood supporter!!.
Take my word for it...a flag is fast approaching!!

Seeing Josh back in form was great In had a feeling he would turn it around this week Well done big fella. Tarks again was brillant well done to a bloke who has never given up and fought against the odds, his fighting spirit is remarkable. Toovey's mark down back sent shivers up my spine that was bloody inspirational. I was wrapped with Bryan, Leon Swanny, Thomas and as always my favourite Scotty Burns!

Another really solid victory!..... This time i thought we looked more clean & skilful [apart from in front of goals!] as opposed to the 'workman-like' tag we've made our own!!
I'm very impressed with:
- the run we seem to have
- the pressure on opponents
- choosing the right option [although it's a little hard to tell on TV!]
- little things like knocking the ball to our advantage
In a word [or is that two??] TEAM-WORK

Brilliant ... H.Shaw, Dick, Bryan, etc. all did this wonderflly well and with purpose.
I'm afraid I see a direct correlation with the team's 'hard-nosed' efforts and the exclusion of Lonie from the team. Unless he changes his ways (that is, inability to WANT to get down and dirty and hurt a body or two) I can't see him back in teh lineup. The likes of Dick, Toovey, Cox, Pendlebury etc. are showiong him up in these areas, and these are the areas that will redefine this team and become our identity. Couple that with a bit of final polish, especially in front of goal, and the future does look bright.

Agree 100% with you, DaicosMagic. A genuine crumber is just so important to a side, and can be a real thorn in any defence .... just when you think you have closed down Rocca/Llyod/Neitz/Hall/whoever, up comes some little under-the-radar guy and he pops a couple ..... it's game on.DaicosMagic wrote:Don't underestimate Dick. Dick will have to be rested at some stage through the year, may well put in quite a few games at Willy before his body is mature, but he has got the X factor, be that up forward or in the middle.

Just got home from the weekend in Adelaide.
Thank you Collingwood for a fantastic win over in the city of Boganville (apologies to my friends there and to Collingwood Supporters there).
Try as I might, I could barely find a mention of Collingwood in the Adelaide Media anytime after Saturday night. Of course the Crows played a game at AAMI Stadium but you would be hard pressed to find out who they played and the fact that they lost! lol
Ahhhhhhh we don't need their press! Wasn't until today when I bought I Melbourne paper that I could relive our win!
All the boys played a fantastic game and before the game I was saying to my mother that I wasn't sure of Chris Bryan, but he certainly impressed me in this game. Hope he keeps it up and can cement his place in the side.
Go Rhyce Lightning you're burning up the quarter mile
Rhyce Lightning go Rhyce Lightning

He wasn't our best, but his speed is phenomenal.ad4eva wrote:Player Analysis:

Yeah, I put money on the Pies on Wednesday because I thought the odds would shorten from $3.00 Head-to-Head (I couldn't believe that we were still at $3.00 to win on Saturday night). It was a nice little Bunsen Burner.Culprit wrote:Great team effort. The icing on the cake was the money I collected at the right odds. Crows $1.36 to win after travelling to Perth and with so many injuries was *ullshit. My Bookmaker was crying last night. Not only Did I collect on the win but picked the margin and won as well.
lol
For once I can laugh
Go Pies!!!

You have an interesting point there DaicosMagic more tests will come when we play a fully fit Melboune and the Bulldogs (the finals last year still looms) Our halfback line has been fantastic this year. You cant blame it on one player but this years efforts have been fantastic.DaicosMagic wrote:"- little things like knocking the ball to our advantage."
