Pies4shaw wrote:What, for NZ, would a "better 100th Test" look like against Australia? Will Williamson improve on his series average of 4.5 or will he end the series with a lower series average than Southee (who is averaging 4)? Will Southee get a wicket - if so, will he average under 69 with the ball in this Test? Those are the questions sane New Zealanders are presently asking themselves.
It looks like the answer to my first question is a "yes" and "yes": Williamson has nearly doubled his series average to an 8.66 but Southee now averages 14.5 for the series.

Smith lbw, not playing a shot to a shooter shortly after Tea on the first day. Shouldn't have been given out - but it's umpire's call.

What a crap pitch.

Australia is halfway to the NZ total. 2/81. 18 overs still to be bowled on Day 1.

Green is charging Henry - coming two metres out of the crease to every ball. I have no idea why. Henry is a crap bowler. of course, but not that crap.

And now - as if to demonstrate what stupid strategy it was, Green wanders half forward from his crease and gets bowled.

They really do need to put SPD BradSmith back in the middle order to shore it up - Head and Marsh have both tnhrown their wickets away, cheaply, again. The lineup just looks flakey with Australia's best batsman thrown to the wolves at the top of the order.

6/166. The lead is 4. The game, however, looks lost.

Henry has bowled a huge pile of half-paced, unthreatening crap - but has 5-fer: that tells you everything you need to know about Australia's middle-order batting.
