The only positive for me was Pendlebury.

Our best player by a mile.

The Torres bounce is officially dead. You are walking alone now Fernando.

Pendlebury was awesome.What really shits me is most of our score came from Travis Cloke and his super goal!I think that they forgot that it is actually bloody footy season and shock horror they are footy players!If that is any sort of indication of what our season is going to be,I don't wanna know...

Someone tells me a few of the boys might have heard footsteps last night too? Some who have heard them before.

North at full strength need the money and need to win up there to try to get a few losers to buy a membership. Dick was in there and I am sure suprised sometimes. :oops:

You cannot take these pretend games serious and our club never has, we do not need the cash and have a huge supporter base.

The Roos are in trouble, their option to play up there is a last resort, next one is to merge. :twisted:

My thoughts having just watched the game;

Overall - never going to win. Rocca, Fraser, Presti, Clement, Buckley missing from the spine against a side who had their best in. Also missing Dids / Dutchy/ OBree / Swan / Lockyer from middle.

Got killed in the ruck / clearance / controlling corridor. Dont fret - lot of kids played.

Burns, Johnson - v good as usual. Johno kicking poor early but got better

Richards - terrible, missed timed his jump and we got smashed in the middle. no physical presence

Bryan - not great but certainly competed at the centre bounce and we started to win a few and neutralise the game a bit. Good physical player

Maxwell - v good. matured as a player.

Pendlebury - outstanding. Class act.

Thomas - worked his way into game. Needs more pill in the corridor.

Lonie - ok. heard footsteps again.

Iles - ok - tries hard

Nicholls - tried hard and has penetrating kick. Got caught a few times but thought one or two were tough against him.

Dick - potential.

N.Brown - cant kick or was it nerves. Certainly has a go and puts his body in the right spots.

Davies - slaughtered early on JOnes. Bit pedestrian but can go better.

T.Cloke - tries hard but delivery etc were v poor.

Rusling - Felt he was not giving his all for first 3 qtrs. Personally would like him pushed up the ground. If he is going to play a FF we need a really quick game style and space in the fwd half. Worked better in last.

Davis - needs to play midfield but workrate needs to rise

H.Shaw - he struggled with umps but does not seem to have 2nd year blues which was great. He is class.

R.Shaw - Good but did his mandatory 3 turnovers. Seems to be running harder.

Cook - only got a bit of it in the last. i am 50/50 on him.

Toovey - struggled at this level. suited to wing for me.

Meddy - Had a go. Not sure he is a midfielder but will be dangerous if we can get footy in quickly.

Wakelin - v good. Was not sure he should have come back but he did well.

Round 1 NAB cup. Not too concerned.

If it was Round 12 of the season proper, Id be preparing for 2008.

It was boys against men Lazza...like an under 18 team against seasoned senior team. We were never a chance. I said before the game to my family that we'd be lucky to get within 7 goals with the team we were putting on the park.

All I was looking for in the game was small individual performances, ie. Pendles, Brad Dick etc.

I thought the performance was pretty bad, but I never expected anything less.

We were missing the following senior players:-
* Clement
* Rocca
* Buckley
* Fraser
* O'Bree
* Didak
* Licuria
* Swan
* Lockyer
* Holland
* Presti

Take all those players out of a best 22, and play them against a side missing all but one senior player and you are in for a hiding.

Aside from that, I was very impressed with Brad Dick when he had a go. Picking up the ball with one grab, and showed plenty of composure for such a young kid, especially for a kid his size. I look the looks of him, and can only hope he continues his development.

Pendles will spend a fair bit of time in the middle this year if he continues his form from last night.

Of everyone else, Burns was good, as was BJ, Cloke was okay in patches, but nothing special. Rusling frustrated me at times, but the delivery into the forward 50 was often very poor, so that didn't help. He needs the ball delivered lace out.

I thought Medhurst was reasonable for a first hitout with a new side. Again, the delivery wasn't all that great to him, but I think he made the most of what he got.

Leon was pretty quiet IMO, Heath was very good, Rhyce was average, Thomas was ok, but wasn't great either. Some of Brown's disposal was dissapointing, Richards showed little in the ruck, Egan was dissapointing, and Lonie wasn't all that great either. Anyway, could go on for a while, but can't be bothered.

We are all happy little vegemites here aren't we? No big deal you say...... :shock:

We played Swans - LOST

We played North - LOST

OK, we have heard all the standard excuses about them being practice matches, not worth much, playing youth etc etc.

Tell you what REALLY worries me? Reading stuff like this:

http://www.afl.com.au/Season2007/News/N ... wsId=38360

"But the Kangaroos' superior fitness was already starting to tell as a 30-point quarter-time lead was extended to 47 by the long break".

North's SUPERIOR fitness?? WTF have Collingwood being doing in Arizona? Doing "laps" of the main drag in their luxury bus? What training has been happening at Lexus Centre? How can Collingwood lack fitness to a pissy little team like North just 4 weeks before the main season? And posters here make light of it??

I can tell you that I'm extremely worried about this season and Collingwood's preparation, even if I'm on my Pat Malone...... :roll: :cry:

QLD is a rugby state alway was and always will be..obviously no Rugby game on in town tonight ?
Pretty Negative Joff mate, The Auskick kids proved tonight that Aussie Rules is gaining popularity and I have to say was worth the price of admission to watch them, I have never laughed so hard in my life. Auskick participation and registration is now higher than Rugby League a trend that is very worrying for the Thugby code in Queensland, you are right it is and always will be a Rugby town but there is certainly room and enough people to have a fantastic supporter base for our code as well as Rugby League (Oh and even when the Broncos are not in London, The Cheaters always get larger crowds to their home games and have done for quite a few years now) mind you what else is awesome is how many Collingwood supporters there were at the ground, the noise made by the Collingwood crowd was awesome compared to the pathetic and insipid Roos who pretty much made the "golf clap" a standard in crowd noise AND all the teenagers, kids and babies wearing Collingwood gear, the future of support for the pies in QLD is in safe hands.

Hats off to the North Melbourne Guy who tried to get money out of us to support his club...best joke of the night.

Dave the Man, Killbot, Lazza & Big T...get off the drugs we had our colts out there against a full senior side, take a hard look at yourselves!

A lot to like about tonight, Brad Dick (very little of him) looks like a gun, great skills and presence and a great first time goal, got to have a quick chat with him after the game and he is a top class kid as well (I think a little overwhelmed by the support he got on the way to the bus) The first half was a shocker I admit but the kids put in a fantastic effort in the second half and showed some great potential. We had 10.....10 FIRST TIMERS for AFL and a couple of others first time for Collingwood, realistically the Roos full strength side on the night should have thumped us by alot more, Come March 31st the story will be a whole lot different. THAT IS FOR CERTAIN!!!

On Another Note...Top class function by the QLD Magpies, well run, well organised and Blake was just a top class individual who I hope will be around the Pies for a long, long time. Hats off to the whole QLD Magpies for a top job!.

Oh and one more thing, great stuff by the guys after the game as they interacted with fans waiting for them to get on the team bus. All of them stopped and signed autographs, posed for photos, Even Mick who at first said to one fan asking for an Autograph "I am very busy" he then checked himself and immediately said "Sorry, mind was on other things, where is your Pen" and he then signed everything in site and posed for alot of photos. Burns, Lones..even Johno were good. The kids weren't allowed to get away as they were praised by all there and happily signed everything in site. Special mention has to go to Nick Maxwell, he was last on the bus and is just one hell of a kid, he spoke to everyone and posed with everyone and carried on conversations with the very large group that gathered around him (future captain stuff by him) also to Daisy Thomas - same as Nick, just spoke, signed and chatted with everyone(alos had his cheek worn out by the girls giving him a kiss (to which he commented, that he was really enjoying QLD) and he was second last on the bus, I Mentioned Brad Dick, he was the same and I had a very brief chat with him and he is all class, humble and in his own words overwhelmed by the support so far - A great young kid!

Anyways I have crapped on long enough...Nothing to worry about at all last night...Things for 2007 are in good shape and as I said to the Doomsayers and mockers...take a hard look at yourselves, there was nothing "piss weak" or "disgusting" about the performance last night, they were just beaten by a desperate for money, full strength Kangaroos - They will be bottom 4 if that! Collingwood on the other hand is looking good for finals footy come September!!!

Cheers

LAZZA you are definately on your Pat Malone mate...Collingwood "Supporters" like yourself make me sick...we ran kids against a full strength senior side, that is the facts..all that garbage you are talking about is Moot, I look forward to reading your comments March 31st......Sheez if you write our season off and our preparation off on that game then I suggest you seriously stay off the drugs!

Cheers

Get a grip Lazza. FFS, Geelong won the NAB cup last year, then we beat them by 108 points in Rd8. The NAB Cup doesn't mean shit.

Joffa you would have been proud to see the army in full force mate, it was awesome, and where we were sitting (with the QLD magpies) well the passion right to the end was awesome (there were 2 baggers amongst the group like lazza et al, but they were promptly shut up by me and plenty others....lol) Can't wait for the GABBA!!!....hopefully my voice will have recovered by then! what else was funny, was at the end of the match our section belted out Good old Collingwood Forever s loud it drowned out all the Pauper Roos supporters mumbling an fumbling over the lyrics of their own pathetic club song....and the Roos that came to the boundry to greet the fans heard us yelling "See you March 31st you pretenders!" great stuff

As I said earlier, the result did not worry me, given our inexperienced team versus a full strength roos outfit. Thinking about it the next day, however, I'm a bit disappointed that not one of our new recruits made a great impact, whereas the roos unveiled a couple of new forwards who kicked a bag full of goals between them. I'm not bagging Brown or Dick, as they (especially Brown) showed enough last night to suggest they'll be good players down the track, but they don't look like they will have an immediate impact like Daisy did this time last year. The only really good sign to come out of last night was the great form of Pendlebury. He could well provide the onball class we desperately need.
