Lot of money for someone who will have about as much impact as Jessie White

"Dan McStay will join the club on a five-year deal worth close to $650,000 per season. "
Just read that page, and everything there seems like rubbish for us. Why are we offering McStay $650000 per year for 5 seasons?? That makes just no sense to me.
Why are they saying we will offload JDG, when now Fox is reporting that Taranto is most likely going to Richmond. Anyway, Taranto is not an equal replacement for JDG in my view.
And why are we offloading Grundy, for no given reason?
I think this entire article is nonsense because
a) Fox is the media outlet
b) I have faith in the club, and don't think we will be making self -sabotaging moves like this article would suggest.

Most of that article by Fox is pure clickbait.

Ignore.

I doubt that De Goey will go and/or that Grundy will leave.

If McStay wanders down to Collingwood, it won't be for $650K for five years.

I expect Bobby Hill to be recruited and Ollie Henry to stay at Collingwood.

Losing Roughead (retirement) and a number of other Magpies will leave enough room in the cap.

If I were North Melbourne, I would be after Scott Pendlebury for two years (as captain) and two years on the coaching staff.

Is it five years at $650k for McStay or three years at $450k or five years at $450k or three at $650k? Gosh it’s hard to keep up, no wonder our salary cap got messed up.

The salary cap is anybody's guess. The question I have is who are we delisting to make space for a minimum 3 draft picks plus McStay, Hill, Taranto, Frampton etc?

Pendlebury has ambition to coach and will not repeat the mistakes of Shaw and Buckley, he will go elsewhere to do his apprenticeship.

I can see North making that offer and can see Pendles being tempted, but I don't believe he'd take it.

McStay will sign as a free agent. Hill will come in via a low cost trade.

Jack Henry is the key position defender we need. (194cm, 24 yo). If Oli wants so bad to get to Geelong, why not bring his brother here? This would be a difficult trade, but Geelong will be trying for other players and could move Henry to relieve cap space. However, Geelong would not make this a quick or easy deal. It would probably take our first pick to get this done, which will be between 15-18.

Taranto, I feel is lost to Richmond. But perhaps there is some hope and we can get him to the club. This will depend on a Grundy deal being done early and the right pick coming in to satisfy GWS. If he is already lost, then we must look at another big scalp.

Frampton will come in as a cheap backup ruck option, but Id really love to look at a bigger and better option and someone that cold take the #1 ruck mantle.

Hopper is not on our radar, but geez he'd be great in the midfield. The dream of landing Sam Draper/Peter Wright from Essendon is exactly that; a dream. Sam Weideman could come in for a very late pick. And Georgiades could be a part of a trade for Grundy.

Arlo Draper and Caleb Poulter have been linked to trades back to SA (Home factor). The Brown brothers were previously linked to Sydney and North, but am unsure if this is still the case.

Re-signing JDG is the first move that we need to make. And if we really are to trade Grundy, then we need to do it quickly so we can focus on getting Taranto.

According to the Herald Sun, Grundy has said No to Port, so if he leaves it's Melbourne or Geelong.

McStay coming, 5 years, $3M :?

Taranto has been told we can fit him and DeGoey into the cap

Bobby Hill set to nominate us as his trade target.

Any love for Matt Crouch? Can't get a game for Adelaide but gets 40 touches and a lot of clearances - I get it he's not a two way runner but he would fix our clearance problems pretty much single handedly?

He was injured early in the season, before our team had been fully able to master and execute the new game style. We have no idea what impact he could be having now.
Hoping that Craig McRae will perform a miracle on Brodie Grundy and turn him into a player worth his contract is like going to the casino, chasing your losses and going bankrupt, when winning gamblers have warned you to stop yourself from going full tilt and to cut your losses.
Getting rid of Grundy before you know what he can achieve under Fly is like selling your shares just before a bull run.
You believe that Craig McRae will perform a miracle on Brodie Grundy, but there is no indication that McRae shares your belief, as the most positive reading of his public statements in the last five months is that they are non-commital: “We're trying to get him to play forward of the ball sometimes, behind the ball and we just want to get him settled. We're not quite there but it's a work in progress with Brodie”; “I’ll leave that list management stuff up to Graham Wright. I’m here to protect and love our players and make them the best they can be while they’re here”; and “It’s quite a difficult one for Brodie because he has been trying to get back to playing, now he is not. That emotional disconnect, if you like. He had an operation earlier in the week so, at the moment, he is living in this space where he is not sure. And that’s a difficult place to live. We are just trying to support him around that in the short term.”

Yeah, saw that article, and don't believe any of it.
It is the same rehash of an article that Fox published a few days ago.
This article (John Ralph the author) suggests that we could contemplate a deal where we give Grundy to Melbourne and still pay $300000 towards his salary. WTF!!?? We allow Melbourne to have a ruck combination of Gawn and Grundy, and pay them $300000 as well??
McStay at $600000 for 5 years...I just don't understand how this could be envisaged. Why for 5 years??
Ralph is just a clickbaiter, and hates Collingwood as well.
