ODI World Cup 2023
NZ has lost consecurive games against India, Australia and South Africa. Unless, like Collingwood in late July and early August, they're in a period of heavy training before tapering for the finals, they look to be in trouble. They only have to play Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in their last 3 games, so they should still probably make the Semis.
It's pretty clear, though, that South Africa and India will play the Final, unless they somehow finish up playing each other in a Semi (1 v 4 and 2 v 3) - but it looks like they're going to finish 1 and 2, so the World Cup should get the Final it deserves.
Just in terms of the top 4, India have won all their matches, so far, including against NZ and Australia. They have South Africa to come. South Africa has beaten everyone (except the Netherlands in an aberration), including Australia and NZ. Australia has beaten NZ and everyone else they've played except India and South Africa. NZ has lost to each of the top 3 and beaten England, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and the Netherlands - of those 4 teams, only Afghanistan has a 50% record (England have won 1 from 6 and Bangladesh 1 from 7; the Netherlands has won 2 from 6 - and collectively, the 4 teams NZ has beaten so far have won just 7 of their 25 matches, including the matches they have played against each other). As to their "formline", India have won 5 in a row, Australia and South Africa have each won 4 in a row. The next best "run" is by Afghanistan, which has won its last 2 games.
