When the Captain goes on TV and says he'd sign elsewhere if offered a better deal, what do you expect?

Side-by-side are words only.
When and where did Pendlebury say that?

Yeah, probably. But just the entire coaching regime around the mids and the rucks, and the slow ultra defensive ball movement.
Grundy's contribution is not one that should I think be measured just in terms of his individual brilliance or lack thereof. Grundy will improve when he has a midfield with a physical presence, and a clearly defined non ultra defensive game plan which the whole team plays to.
But his basic skills are awful. He has to take ownership of that. We could blame devo coaches too, but that stuff should have been worked on long before he became a senior player (preferably before he became an AFL player).

e.g. with 16:30 left in Q3, not a bad pickup from Grundy. But then he kicked it straight to Ridley. There was not a Collingwood (or Essendon) player within 15 metres of Ridley.

Sadly, this is typical.

But I will just go back to my initial point. How can you explain 2018, and also 2019, if he is intrinsically such an unskilled player? Clearly, he needs to improve, but I feel atm his inept form is mostly a reflection of ineptitude throughout the team. The last game against Brisbane, and now today, we hit new lows in this respect, and I think you would have to attribute alot of this to fatigue and the psychology of meaningless games under meaningless coaching schema. I won't be judging Grundy on this year nor last year.

I don't reckon he had good skills in 2018-19. I reckon folks just overlooked his faults (and still do). There has never been a time when his hit outs hit teammates. He overlapped for a while with guys like Swan, didn't he? I'll wait for revisionists to claim Swan was a bad centre-square player.

I don't think skills (e.g. marking) just disappear. I reckon he never had them.

If the rumour mill is right about pendles then I am done with this club
He’s arguably in the best 5 players we’ve ever had (ok let’s say top 10 to stop arguments)
If he has signed elsewhere because we didn’t offer him any sort of deal or a deal that was embarrassing then my membership card can be stuck up the a$$ of whoever made this decision
I don’t care what our salary cap issues are you don’t treat club champions like that
If we pay a Grundy a million a year and his output is worth around $400k on current form and Sidey is paid $650k a year and his output and value to the team is worth about $200k a year then there is something really wrong at this club
Let’s trade delist cut whoever we need to to keep Pendles
He deserves and warrants a dignified and gracious end to his career unlike some others on the list currently

As for today’s game only shining grace really the season from hell is over
Some good signs from the young guys especially Rantall today
Most have run out of puff
Good luck in retirement to Mayne enjoy it
Maynard either sign up now and be part of the rebuild or go don’t try and hold the club to ransom
Roughhead if your going to retire make the announcement now and don’t leave the club hanging
Sidey do the right thing by the club hang them up you’ve been getting money for nothing for 2 years now.
Thomas if you can find a deal elsewhere take it
Magden take up another sport your not a AFL player
Grundy go away for a week and decide if you really want to be a AFL player because right now your basically useless to the team. You eat up salary cap and deliver nothing on the field of value
Adams spend the entire off season learning to kick straight
JDG spend the entire off season training so you can run out a game for 4 quarters
WHE seriously I see you some times and wonder if you have ever played rhe game before then other days you look the goods. You best needs to be shown more often

Ok interesting question and a serious question
We don’t have a coach appointed for 2022 and beyond and I’ve heard Harvey won’t be asked to do the exit interviews as he won’t be part of the club beyond today so who is actually going to conduct these interviews ? Wright I’m assuming but shouldn’t he be concentrating on the list and upcoming draft etc ?
Shouldn’t the new coach have something to say to the players prior to there summer break ?
This is a mess of the highest caliber

Yeah, Qld, great question. I agree. The new coach would surely want to address the players before they go on holidays (although at least one assumes they won't be leaving the country, so can be called back).

I think you're right K.

What we all got excited about with the Grundy of 2018 and 2019 was his ferocious, manic attack on the ball, especially after knocking it down to himself at centre bounces. There actually wasn't a lot of high level skill evident, just incredible amounts of lion-hearted effort, both at ground level and with gut running all around the ground.
Since securing the exorbitant contract, that level of raw effort and determination has subsided (co-incidentally, so have the club's fortunes).

We need a big clean out,
I look at the game sidebottom through up and I just vomit.
What is the new coach going to do with Grundy.
He can't mark he can't ruck and he can't chase
He can count unfortunately
