I don't think I've seen any Geelong games this year, so I really don't know much about how they go about it. To be honest, I watched a game of theirs in round 2 or 3 and said "They really need to replace 2/3 of their list of nobodies. If they think they can make the 8 they are kidding themselves."DaVe86 wrote:The other obvious key players for us to stop are Ablett, Chapman, Bartel.
Anyway, hasn't Steve Johnson been in dangerous form? If we cover Mooney, Hawkins, Champan, Ablett... what about Johnson? The danger here is that the Cats, more than any team we've played in the last few weeks, have the potential to really expose our defense. They seem to have the forward potency to challenge us.
This is why I am looking forward to this game. It'll tell us whether we have a backline that's been successful only because of the lack of quality opposition, or whether we have a backline capable of holding the fort in a Premiership side. On an individual note, this is the sort of game that could be the making of Goldsack.
OK now I'm drooling. This would be a magnificent matchup to watch. There's not that much space between them in skill, but the Pendog has little Charlie Bartel outpaced.DaVe86 wrote:Pendlebury going head to head with Bartel.
Really looking forward to this game!

I think it's more about midfields than forward lines and back lines, Streak. (Well, that's true most weeks, but maybe more so than ever this week.) They have decent forwards, so do we. They have decent backs, so do we. Whoever wins the midfield struggle will win the day ..... as long as our lot can kick the bloody thing straight at least some of the time.
They have got a heap of run, we are the best pressure side in the comp. Their ability to run and move the ball against our ability to shut down run and force the turnover. Should be a great game.

Spot on. Our last three performances have seen dominance/pressure in the middle. Thats where we'll win/lose it. Our backs have generally done the job cos of our fantastic midfield/forward defensive pressure!Tannin wrote:I think it's more about midfields than forward lines and back lines, Streak. I doubt that either of them will not play, I would be very surprised if either of them didn't play...MardyP wrote:Did I hear on the Ten news that Junior and Stokes both have the flu???
Anyway, i'd rather they did play so when we give them a mother of all hidings a la last year, the media can't say anything that their best player wasn't playing...
If you didn't already pick it, I have a very good feeling about this weekend, they are due for a loss & we never give in, we have always found something at stages during the year...
Ohhhh the premierships a cakewalk for the good old COLLINGWOOD

Not sure about that.DaVe86 wrote:If Rhyce Shaw is back he can play on Steve Johnson...he has the pace and can hurt him going the other way
Johnson is good overhead and Racer isn't. If I were Cats I'd pull Racer back to the goal square with a strong marking player when ever possible.
Racer is best suited to a more crumbing type of forward. IMO.
