Davies, by the look of things, is a genuine emergency. He'll only play if there is a last-minute injury to a midfielder. But it's good to seee him close to selection. Odd that it should come after a week when he played less well for Willy than usual.
But as posters above have said already, it's Bryan's selection that is the real puzzle. Why drop Richards when he is in career-best form and improving a little every week? Is his dislocated finger a factor?
It seems to me that the view at Victoria Park is that the Saint's ruck division is weak and that we need to take advantage of that ...... but which way?
There is Plan A: ruck Fraser all day and play an extra midfielder (Iles, a quick one) to run St Kilda off their legs. But who helps Josh out? Reid? Cloke? Seems a bit risky.
There is Plan B: ruck Bryan all day (with a little help from Josh) on the theory that Bryan's big body can crash & bash its way through the undermanned St Kilda ruckmen. Josh plays forward a lot. If he can take a grab or two he's a good kick from anywhere inside 50. Or the reverse: Josh rucks and Bryan sits in the goal square while Reid and the small forwards lurk for crumbs.
And if Bryan does play, then who gets left out? My guess is Harry.

Kosi has been named, and although i doubt he will play, we do need another ruck option. I actually thought Richards was coming a long way over the last few weeks. However with Richards out, im thinking Bryan will come in for Isles as a backup ruckman/forward.
No doubt Fraser and Bryan can rotate up forward when tired. They can work over the saints ruck division.

No matter what there will be a late change. It will either be kosi out for the saints, or Bryan in for the pies. If Kosi pulls up, Mick will play another ruckman....im hoping he hasnt named Bryan as he is pretty confident Kosi will not play.
