Yeah, noticed that, nice work!
I don't know if it's such a good idea to drop Medders, but the other changes are fair. Tooves is going to be a great player but he probably should have been rested a couple of weeks ago, and Richards for Bryan is fair enough.

From wats available, a good team has been selected.
Always been a fan of Licca and I hope he works as a stop-gap till the other guys get bak.
The selection of Clarke is sensational, still remember the 'Hulk' coming in for the Pies as a kid in 1973 first semi!! Good luk Marty.
Am pleased Cox is in- I rate him, quick and decisive- good to see Stanners stay in as well...
Richards for Bryan, glass half-full, half empty on their demonstrated form to date, altho I prefer Chris Bryan
Kik their whinging butts Pies.

Firm in the belief that number 17 flag is only months away...

That would be my idea, Sammy. Either of those two, with the other one ready to swap in if needed, Meanwhile, Maxy is free to roam at will around the back half, helping out and providing run. From the team selected, it looks as though the match committee is thinking alonmg the same lines. I hope so. I just haven't seen Nick shut a man down, and that's what a real backman has to do. I actually se Maxwell's long-term future further up the ground, on the wing or even ruck-rover.Sammys Hot Pies wrote:That was kind of what i meant Tannin, do we play Goldsack or Cox on Oloughlin in the hope that Maxy can come across and be the third man up?
Good memory Warburton lad. I remember Kink being quizzed by Mike Williamson on 'Football Inquest' the night before the game. They asked Kink - who was still in year 11 at Melbourne High School - how he thought he'd go, playing his first ever game at full forward replacing the great Peter McKenna in a final. He laconically replied "I reckon i'll do alright". The next day he kicked 4 goals.warburton lad wrote:

A massive test for the Magpies this week.
The Swans will have it in tight and tough and will try to grind us. They play hard tough footy and so do we.
The likes of Burns, O'Bree, Swan, Licuria and Lockyer become so important at the stoppages.
We have to negate their driving forces in Kirk, O'Keefe, Bolton and Goodes. We have proved to be fitter than some opponents and hopefully we will see this again and run them off their feet.
Our backline is obviously the major issue. Negating Hall, O' Keefe, Shnider, Davis and O' Loughlan is such a huge task for the young defence. Goldsack, Stanley, Clarke and Cox, all first year players (debut) will show us if their up to the task and if they prevail it will be a massive confidence boost for the boys.
We have to give our forward first use and hopefully the two big boys Rocca and Cloke can mit some and then kick straight. If they can get their hands on the game its a massive plus for us. Just as important Didak and Davis have to be lively and make themselves dangerous as ever at the feet of the tall timber.
Using the big ground of Telstra Stadium we can open up the play and run the Swans off their feet. Supply the forwards will the ball on a platter and be dangerous when heading forward we become such a difficult team to defeat. We also must get numbers flooding back into defence to help out the kids and deny their potent forward line. A season building win if we can get over the line.

True ad4eva, we have more players capable of finding space.
We can use Johnson, Cloke and/or Lockeyer in defence if we have to.
I like the line up, its realy pro-active, instead of picking a team to try and match Sydney with height and strength, we have picked a hard running team.
The more i think about it, the more i am liking our chances.
Im not sure on Davis and Ablett playing too.
Pies by 25 (Although i will never pick against us in a million years)

Might still be a late change...possibly Toovey as a defensive option. But id say this is how we line up considering no Lonie on the emergency list.
Maxwell would be best suited to a third man up role...but i think we may have to use him with Wakelin to double team Hall. Id be using Wakelin in defensive 50, and Maxwell to follow him if he goes for a run.
The Swans will try and get Wakelin out of defence. If they do that, we have no senior players down back. Wakelin has slowed up, and will not match Hall around the ground. Its a big test for Maxwell, but the Swans will be throwing a lot of talls up forward to really stretch us. Everitt will most likely line up at FF. If he does, Wakelin is the only man for him. Otherwise we bring in Bryan as a hole-filler and potentially drop Stanley.

Anyone see tonights article by Licca in MX. Talked about the challenge in front of the team this week and the huge importance of this game. He talked about some of the individual challenges like the young guys and Wakelin in the backline. Suggested he and Maxwell would get first crack at the big jobs.
One thing that blew me away was that this match is apparently going live to Clarke's homeland and all his family and friends will be watching. (I think he may have meant this http://ie.setanta.com/portal/systemcont ... n=channel2)
This is the most excitement I've seen about a new recruit for a long time and given whats happened over the last 12 months thats saying something. Hope he plays well tomorrow.
Nevertheless we all need to remember whatever happens he will only get better.
Good luck to the lad and go pies!
