Jim Wilson from Sky News is a pretty reliable source. I still think and hope Brown plays.

We are close to full strength with only two definite walk-up starters missing in Bucks and Clement, although to say we are near full strength without our captain or VC is a bit rich, still, the only other guy I could see coming in would be Lonie, and at the moment I am not sure who I would drop for him with Goldy out for Clem and Tooves out for Bucks... I would want to get as much game time into Dutchy as possible, we haven't got enough hardness around the contest to be dropping him so early in his return, after Burns, O'Bree and Swan the drop-off in terms of mature inside mids is pretty steep, as well as the fact that with Licca out and on the outer, Dutchy becomes our number one tag. Our best side needs to get on the park, get match fit, and get used to playing with each other to have a chance of winning a final or two this year. I'm talking about; Didak and Davis getting used to playing with Medhurst, Buckley finding his new role as a rotating forward, mid, HBF and bench-warmer, Clement settling in as our CHB in the absence of Wakes, etc etc. It just does not make sense to me in a year when we are clearly good enough to play finals to start dropping senior blokes at every opportunity to debut or bring back youngsters. They will get their opportunities regardless. Over on bigfooty some where asking why Toovey was still getting a game, the answer is simple; until Lonie or Egan or Buckley get back from injury we have no senior players who can do that role as well as him, so he is in, and good on him for so far making the most of his chance! Come finals however, I want Holland to be well and truly over his slow start and playing good footy with good awareness of our new team structure at senior level.

Anyway, hope we destroy the Lions up there and hope someone puts up a torrent of it on quick-smart after so I can get it and watch it!

I watched the Pies train at the GABBA last night.
24 of the 25 trained except for Ben Davies who I believe didn't fly up.

Training was scheduled for 5.45pm but the flight was delayed and the players didn't hit the track until 6.30pm.

MM spent about 20 mins talking to Lethal before the players trained.

All trained well, including Bucks who joined in some of the training albeit he cruised around.

A solid core of the Magpie faithful attended.

Weather conditions are good at the moment. Last night when training was occuring the temperature was about 18-19 degrees, which didn't seem to fuss our blokes too much.

For the punters I have backed us between 1-19 points @ odds of $4.25.

A quarter by quarter quaddie of Coll, Bris, Coll, Coll @ odds of $23.00.

Finally I also backed us to win by either 11 or 12 points @ odds of $31.00.

I'm of to the QLD Magpies pre match function this arvo.

Massive game this one. We havent won up there since 1995, however half the boys in the side now a days have only played there once or twice.

IMO on paper we are better and providing we shut down their big names in Black, Brown, Power and Lappin we should be able to kick a winning score, providing the kicking is straight.

We have to tackle and play disiplined footy because the GABBA is a big ground where the Lions love to use the middle of it.

Get the ball one out to Rocca and with Dids, Medders and Leon at his feat we form a pretty formidable forward with the inclusion of Trav and a couple others floating forward in the likes of Daisy, Pendles, Brodie, Tarks and Swanny.

Big for Johnson and Holland. For quite different reasons these two have left a hole in our midfield and we need them to step up. If OB continues on from last week and these two find form we will be a much more formidable side over the length of the season given how young the rest of the side is.
