They probably all have part-time jobs. Possibly as bouncers.

(Tannin, go to bed.)

Because 99% of people wouldnt recognise an umpire if they saw him out at a nightclub

Nah, they're at home with their mates (read, alone  ) practising their gestures for free kicks nude in front of a full length mirror ala Geoff Boycott. :P

Adelaide are a shocking team to play anytime, they move off their man after a turnover and create a big wall across there halfback line, thats why teams find it so hard to score against them. Its really a bad way to play such a great game, once a turnover takes place they are essentially turning their opponents next move into a 50/50 gamble by making them go over the halfback line and straight in their forward 50 where they have loads of players waiting for the spill. Once that happens they all rush wide and straight down the middle, if a free man is open the link him, its simple and effective. Its the 1st kick after a turnover, once we slow down the first kick forward they ambush you, close all the space up. I think we need to play through the middle, straight down the guts, gives us more space as they always try and push teams wide. I think we can win, us by 25points.

Agree with you jimbeam
We can match them at their own game one on one and by attacking on the wings as they try and push you wide. If We can straighten up more often "down the guts to Trav and Ant" we should have a better return. For that to happen we have to be pinpoint accurate and both our big men must convert... My big worry is that they are one of the most physical sides going around so we must match them there for four quaters.

What happened to Medders, is he still out injured? He's not named in the emergencies, I don't suppose he's playing for Willy this weekend.

not true hiss, there was a nasty incident on the umps end of season trip last year when there was an argument at the bridge table and scott mclaren got up and slapped goldy across the cheek and goldy threw a ginger nut biscuit back at him in retaliation.

they were both brought up before the committee and banned from bingo for two weeks.

With the way we have been going, anyone will be stiff to get dropped.
Certainly Dick would be stiff if he got dropped. (sorry, it had to be done)

Of all the ins and outs the only one that worries me is the inclusion of f#%wit McClaren! Why dont the league do something about that whistle-happy fool!?

I reckon it will be decided in the first 1/4, if we're with them at half time we'll run over the top of them, but it's a big 'if'. The main thing we need to do is kick goals. 13-15 would probably do it, but that again is a big ask. Trav could be the key, last week was easily his best game, if he can take the next step and earn his first BOG we'll be in good shape.

Players to watch:
-Macca: Shut him down and we're half way home. Put Race on him. We could use Lones to help us play the corridor, but Cheesy's been kicking longer of late (and playing career best footy to boot!).
-Edwards: Little bugger always does well on us, Perhaps Tarks?
-Goodwin: Maybe one of the kids, as he's not all that big, I'd like to see Dick take him on. That or Swanny.
-Thompson: Looks like a job for Harry!

Most importantly we need to tackle as furiously as we've done the last few weeks and play the corridor (through Heater, Cheesy and Pendles et al) before they have time to flood. Better fitness, shorter injury list, and extra coupla days should help. Too many frees could kill us. It's likely that freak McClaren won't let us tackle while allowing their big blokes to beat the snot out of our kids.

It really craps me off that the umpire we get should make a difference. They've been reasonable this year for maggots, but beware! In a close one it could be the key.

I'm pleased we're paying $3. It means the mob haven't noticed us yet, and could even give rise to a tiny bit of complacence. I actually wouldn't be destroyed if we lost (mind you at our house 'not destroyed' means only 1 remote gets broken). I'd guess we were thinking that 3-3 at this point would be acceptable and perhaps 7-4 by halfway. But remember '03? Win-loss-win-loss all the way to the break, (although I believe an unexpected loss to Whore-thorn after kicking 1-5 in the first broke the run) then only 1 loss all the way to the Granny! OOOOOooh we were good in the 2nd half that year!

Too close to call this... Us if the umpiring is good, them if it isn't

If we can be hard at the ball like we have been in recent games and if we can kick straight, then I think that we can win easily.
Go the pies.
