As usual I have put up my summary of the match on the main page:

Comments welcome. Mixed feelings today, disappointed but also there was a fair bit to take away from the game.

Pretty disapointing.
Our forward line is pretty hopeless. Need Buck, Did's and Medders ASAP to slot in there.
I don't know, at least we wern't blown away but yeah ruch is a problem.

Also, I noticed that the cheer squad was rather quiet today also.

Joffa, I wouldnt go as far as saying that Cox was BOG today. He was good, but by far Rhyce Shaw was BOG!! He was outstanding. Best game for Shawy for a long time.

I noticed with the comments some people have made in regards to Dick, Licca and even Obee, they seemed to spend a lot of time on the bench today. Especially Dick and Licca. A planned move by MM or its just how the day planned out.

Will be interesting to see how Thomas, Licca and Burns all pull up after today. Does anyone actully know what happened to Licca?? Only heard on the tv he had a soft tissue injury, but they didnt say where or when it happened??
- Thanks for the memories Licca - I'm gonna miss you!!! - Bring on 2008 - Nick Maxwell has my vote for Captain -

Pathetic quality of football and both clubs should hand the spectators their money back. Both teams made error after error and this was not under pressure this is just basic skill errors by highly paid individuals. I actually see better quality football at a local level. As far as the Pies, we do not have a play maker and we are paying the price. The umpires, well Geoff maybe sending a few of them to umpire Dimboola 3rds after todays effort. All I can say to Geoff is that they are under your instructions and the fish rots at the head.

I will seriously have to consider if I waste my time attending AFL football again after todays effort. The footy was just plain*hithouse.

Actually, it's one of the few times I agree with DTM, umps were crap, Cloke needs time at Willy, Pebs busted his butt today, Daisy & Dip are going to be superstars and Cox is rising!

I watched it and can say for sure it was not MM fault, or 99% of the players. I was proud of the effort today.

Lade smashed us in the ruck and would have been worth 3-4 goals
Bring in Bryan please, Richards is no good, deep down we all know he is never ever going to improve and be a semi decent ruck option. Time for Bryan to just cash and bash, wear them down and get some physical presence on field.

Harry on ebert, MM did **** this up and badly, but it was his only mistake. He was the difference as the game went on, port used this match up and it payed off.

Maxey on Corns was a smart early move and i was suggesting this earlier in the week but once chad moved midfield and started pushing up ground max should have dropped back and played a loose backmen.

The score, port believe me are a super super fit unit. I bet some people where sitting their thinking when are we going to run these guys under, nope they where up and about very early this year.

Injuries, they killed us and caused just enough distraction to swing the game.

So i think we done a bloody good job under the circumstances. But it is time for some short term pain for this club, we need to play the kids more.

makkawakka wrote:Terrible. Three Brownlow votes to Mick Malthouse for his stunning performance in letting Port win. I'm not one of the Sack Malthouse!!!!111oneoneone brigade...But seriously. Guy Richards is NOT of AFL standard.

3 possesions. 6 hit outs. Talk all you want about conditions not suiting him (as I'm sure one or two will), he's just no good. Lade murdered us. Fraser well down on form. Ruck is going to cost us again and again until it's looked at.

Essendon to murder us next week.

Edit: The loss isn't solely because of Richards. I'm not saying that. But he certainly doesn't help matters.
Richards was hopeless today. I've stood up for him in the past, but he was really flogged today. Granted conditions didn't suit, but...Chris Bryan may need to pull on the boots next week.
As I said, I thought he seemed OK but the stats show he was clearly beaten. I just seemed to recall a number of contests where he either beat Lade or made things difficult for him.
I don't hate Cloke at all. The simple fact is he has been playing poorly all year, and today was his worst game yet.
I'd look at dropping Cloke although wh do you replace him with? No one is leaping out of Williamstown screaming 'pick me!'.
Oh, another thing... where was our cheer squad today????? Didnt see them or hear much from them at all.......
We were there, toughing it out in the rain. Congrats to all who stuck it through in what was driving rain.

Have great respect for Mahoney but today he drove me insane - we needed to clamp down on the medium-small forwards.

Nathan Brown. Though in saying that, is he injured?

What about Reid?
